CNCNZ.com Forums Return to the Blue

Recommended Posts

After many hours of work we have finally finished updating our new IP.Board forums with the official CNCNZ.com colours of blue/black/gold, these are the site's traditional colours and its only fitting that they get used on the new forums. The skin has been give the name "Blue Resurrection" or "cncnzBlueRes" for short. We still have some minor things to fix up but if your browsing around and posting you probably won't even notice. In the event you find a problem please post a comment to this update. Post your feedback about the new look for the forums as well.

I would like thank Caleb for helping with the skin update, without his valuable assistance who knows when this this skin would ever have been completed.

Wonderful *cheers* :)

Good work Sonic & Caleb, this looks awesome! :D

Btw, if you press the feed icon in the lower left corner, the text in the little box is black so you can't see it.

One thing I found annoying as I went to this link is this:

cncna9.png

Those two lines. If you could make them overlap to be one, I think it would look better. Last complaint for me is that... Lemme make an image of what I am talking about or else I don't think anyone could understand.

Like that, a 5 pixel area to the left and right that creates a little space. I donno, feels crammed with the forums just right on top of my browser's edge.

Minor & insignificant complaints from me, I love it overall though!

I've fixed a couple of minor things, I still have some stuff work on though. Its annoying because when I change one thing it seems to affect other parts of the forum overall :rolleyes:

Another thing I've noticed from the other skins to this one. This image.... shows a less gradual change. And the colors look weird how they change like that.

I think it might be just going under "switch shock" since I've become accustomed to the standard blue skin, but more feedback I guess.

Blackout your acting anal retentive about this :lol:

forums are sexy once again

He's not getting anal about it really. This is the only skin Sonic is going to have created on this forum. If anyone else wants one made, they can do it themselves... So might as well get this solidly right and perfect. Every piece of feedback helps, cos us admins have been using and looking at this skin since the first layer of darker blue went into it... so we're gonna miss stuff that might not look right.

Yeah I agree - it's good but if we're going to just have one skin - might as well be as near perfect as possible.

lol.. I'm actually used to the white verison now. haha. :P

I'll see what the blue verison is like for a while though. :)

Also, I don't suppose we could have a condensed verison of this blue/white skin also? By condensed I mean absolute length. So it doesn't stretch. Its easier to read thats all. :)

well i wasnt all that serious, i just found it funny how two little lines are irritating to some...

(on a side note, i just switched to OPERA!...cncnz is nice on it too)

i made my avy/siggy match the white scheme...hmm ill probably just leave it

Yay for Opera! I'm using it too, so don't know about those two lines.

Ok, based on feedback, mostly from TheBlackout being picky :P I've made some more tweaks and changes. The lines that you could see in the pic below are don't appear any more.

cncna9.png

There is a 1px line there to create some separation between the actual post content and post details.

I have never tested CNCNZ.com (main site) or the forums in Opera every, I probably should but I can be bothered. However I do know the new blue skin has a couple of issues in IE7....typical :rolleyes:

I can assure you that both colours are the same. But I can see what you mean, it will be your eyes playing tricks on you. The combination of colours next to each other creates an illusion that one is darker than the other.

And I see a left and right 5px or so space in between the edge of the window and the forum. And the 1px line really does look better. I'm all content now. :P

For the symbols next to the forums, what do you plan to make them? The ico image of CNCNZ would seem to do good as those.

Blasphemy!

And Sonic, I have no idea how you eliminated the two line thing. I spent a couple of hours mucking around with that the other day...Ah well here's to a successful new skin :)

The email replies don't automatic 'check themselves' in the new forums, so whether that's a fast reply, or a normal addreply, I have to physically check the box each post. As far as I know, and understand, I have checked this box in my personal settings... so I expected them to be globally applied to any post.

Is this IE bug, or just life and I have to get used to it - or am I an idiot and I haven't setup the account correctly?

It was the .post1 and .post2 elements in the CSS. I just made the border 0px.

.post1,
.bg1{
    background: #021d36;
    border: 0px solid #397bce;
}

.post2,
.bg3{
    background: #021d36;
    border: solid 0px #397bce;
}

Are you referring to the topic subscriptions feature?

I've just clicked fast reply.

below this text box, smilies and signature are enabled by default but the "email notification of replies" is unchecked.

This is the same for the full 'add reply'.

I'm now clicking the 'email notification' and then the 'add reply' button. ciao.

Put it this way, and from what I understand, the fast reply and normal add reply are both separate. So I guess the email notification of replies works that way as well.

No issues with what you've said. My point was in both types of replies I have to manually check the "email notification" even though I'm making a post.

(This is obviously seperate to me "watching a topic" that I haven't posted in.)

As I write this reply, in the long version it tells me I am receiving email replies... but curiously enough I didn't get a notification from yours or Louis' reply.

So I can put up with it, if it's a limitation of the new forums.

But if it's a bug, I'm pointing it out so you are aware of it.

And if it's me, someone can do me a solid favour and help me out!

ciao bella!
