Plok 327 Posted September 29, 2011 Adblock works. Hey, I found something new too! The address bar no longer shows the http:// protocol. EDIT: And it does show the ftp:// protocol... Yay irrelevant changes! Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted September 29, 2011 I don't like that change. I like actually seeing what I'm using, especially when it comes to http/https. Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted September 30, 2011 (edited) Firefox just patch the Version 7.0 with minor tweaks and brand it 7.0.1. Do update your browser if you just upgraded to version 7.0. Issue discovered with Firefox add-on upgrades Update (Sept. 29 3:45pm Pacific): A new update for Firefox that fixes this issue is now available, and all users are encouraged to update to the latest version from within the Firefox About window or by downloading from mozilla.org/firefox. We’ve identified an issue in which some users may have one or more of their add-ons hidden after upgrading to the latest Firefox version, affecting both desktop and mobile. These add-ons and their data are still intact and haven’t actually been removed. We paused new updates to Firefox to minimize the potential impact on users and will soon release an update to fix this issue and ensure all your add-ons are visible and usable. In the meantime, if you notice an add-on missing entirely from the Add-ons Manager, you can use a simple workaround to recover them. We are working hard to resolve this issue. We know how important add-ons are to you and apologize for the inconvenience. Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 4, 2011 I'm on 7.0.1 finally. I like the speed improvements. You can enable showing the http protocol in the URL anyway so it's not a big deal. Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted October 4, 2011 Really? How? Type about:config in the Location/URL bar and press Enter. If you see a warning, accept (promise to be careful) Filter: browser.urlbar.trimURLs Double-click that item to toggle value to false and you're done ;o Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted October 24, 2011 I haven't given Firefox a fair try in months because it kept lagging on multiple tabs and pissing me off. I have plenty of RAM and processing power so I did not understand why it would hang all the time. Once I went to Chrome it was a lot smoother though Chrome isn't perfect either. But I could always use Opera, right? Bwahahahaha, oh man I kill myself. Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted October 25, 2011 I just upgraded to 7.0.1 yesterday. I wasn't impressed. The longer I use Firefox, the less I really like it. Everything it can do, Chrome can do better. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 25, 2011 Everything it can do, Chrome can do better. Like do things without your consent, yep. It can do that too. **** Chrome. 1 Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted October 25, 2011 Like do things without your consent, yep. It can do that too. Well, yeah! Seriously though, I use Internet Explorer more than either, but I am fully aware of IE's flaws, and so when I need to do something IE isn't good at, I use Chrome. As for the whole nonconsensual browser molestation, I really do not see much of a threat at this current point in time. Sure, Google has been yearning toward the dark side, but I think the kind of ridiculous things going on with games these days goes a lot further than one little browser sneaking around your backyard with night vision googles (oh, I misspelled that... how'd that happen?). Malevolence 6 Posted November 9, 2011 Mozilla Firefox 8 Released You know what, we won't even go through the drill of expressing surprise that a new major version of Firefox is released on a nearly-monthly basis. Mozilla released Firefox 8.0, about 7 months after it released Firefox 4.0. And they look similar, except that the new one looks more polished. Granted, drastic UI changes can hit users' learning curve and preferences. The new UI sports essentially the same layout as its predecessors since version 4.0, but the elements look designed better, fused into the theme. It's the under-the-hood changes that are counting. Mozilla would never pack so many background changes to the monthly updates of Firefox 3. With this release, Mozilla Firefox has the following changes over the previous generation: Add-ons installed by third party programs are now disabled by default Added a one-time add-on selection dialog to manage previously installed add-ons Added Twitter to the search bar for select locales. Additional locale support will be added in the future Added a preference to load tabs on demand, improving start-up time when windows are restored Improved performance and memory handling when using Added CORS support for cross-domain textures in WebGL Added support for HTML5 context menus Added support for insertAdjacentHTML Improved CSS hyphen support for many languages Improved WebSocket support Fixed several stability issues Fixed several security issues Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted November 9, 2011 Another month, another Firefox version... nothing new really. I just let the damn thing update and carry on. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 9, 2011 By this time next year we'll either be onto firefox 20 or they're have renamed firefox to something else. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted November 9, 2011 I'd rather Mozilla tune Firefox so it's not a continual RAM hog like it is now. 1 Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted November 10, 2011 Heh, I wasn't even suprised this morning when it updated to the new version. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted November 18, 2011 Feeling the buggy Firefox 7 starting to occur, I guess I have to upgrade the browser for a more satisfying surfing experience. Yep, Firefox 8 is now released, marking the fifth version to be released this year. So who's upgrading it? Share this post Link to post
Plok 327 Posted November 18, 2011 1) You're late. FF8 came some time ago. 2) Why did you make a new thread when this one exists? Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted November 19, 2011 I've been using Firefox 8 for a couple weeks now. It feels a lot smoother than 7 did. Share this post Link to post
Plok 327 Posted December 9, 2011 Found this while peeking through CNCNZ's Extreme Tracker thingy, subsection System Tracking. What the hell? Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted December 9, 2011 I'd say that's a bug in that version of the Extreme Tracker. Try the Desktop Version V5. View the same stats, more accurate I think.... http://extremetracking.com/open?login=cncnzx Share this post Link to post
Plok 327 Posted December 9, 2011 Can't see Extreme Tracking v5 without it complaining on my AdBlock. Also, the new FF beta is 9.0 b5, and the latest Aurora is 10.0 a2 Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted December 10, 2011 FireFox user FTW! Despite all the hoo haa about the version numbers and Google Chrome's aggressiveness, I am still quite content using FireFox. I had plans on using Chrome, I guess that'll be delay for another time. Why so many people using IE still? Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted December 10, 2011 Cause IE is a goddamn browser and people are fine with using it as... get this... a ****ING BROWSER. Needs fewer Internet browser hipsters who slag IE. Shut up about it already. >_> 1 Share this post Link to post
