Alphabear 11 Posted June 11, 2008 you get free internet up until 200mb each month (amazingly some people do manage to stay under this) and then you have to pay for each extra gig of download. Myself though i'm on a staff account so i get unlimited Share this post Link to post
BioBen 3 Posted June 11, 2008 Ok here we go. No capping or downloads or anything this time. Share this post Link to post
Mina Synd 0 Posted June 11, 2008 not bad o.o could be better, could be worse o.O but it's a workable speed. and wow alpha XD i knew uni lines had to be fast to support the whole campus, but surely you don't get that kind of speed on each download? o.O; that would be a 500MB download in a minute or two XD; Share this post Link to post
Louis EX 0 Posted June 11, 2008 Keh! If I had that kind of connection, I would get a 1TB harddrive so I can indulge myself into downloading. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted June 11, 2008 Ha... it's sad, but at least I beat Luk3us (again!) This thread would be more meaningful if we also include cost to get said service! My paltry speeds are worth $40/m. Share this post Link to post
Louis EX 0 Posted June 11, 2008 Eh, mine is a combination of cable TV and broadband. Should be around $120/m. Share this post Link to post

If I had that kind of connection, I would get a 1TB harddrive so I can indulge myself into downloading. 250GB + 320GB external... I am needing a 1TB though, filling up quick! Ha... it's sad, but at least I beat Luk3us (again!) This thread would be more meaningful if we also include cost to get said service! My paltry speeds are worth $40/m. Download is nice but no one has great upload like I do... I make a good seeder compared to most I suppose. My parents pay ~40 USD (53NZD) but we get this all in one thing, so it probably comes down to more of 35 USD (47NZD). So compared to you... Our service owns for the price. About 25 times greater upload and 11 times greater download Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted June 12, 2008 Upload isn't that important though, which is why most places can get away with it. Share this post Link to post
Mina Synd 0 Posted June 12, 2008 local download... lucky c.c we pay something like £20 or £30 a month for the broadband... for USD double it X3; the uk is expensive for everything so when buying stuff in the uk it's a pretty good deal n_n; Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted June 15, 2008 (edited) Ok, so my ISP is retarded....I got better connection to Wellington, New Zealand than a city 50 miles from me... Locally... Nationally... Internationally... Edited June 15, 2008 by F15pilotX Share this post Link to post

Also, we pay about half of what you do for computer parts. Share this post Link to post

Mina Synd 0 Posted June 16, 2008 o.O; yah. $2 - £1... but the uk is so freaking expensive everything costs more here X3; house prices are just insane and shopping is even more expensive now o.o; the other day mom was bitching because something she bought went up from £1 to £1.75 in a day o.O; i mean a four 2lt pack of coca cola bottles costs about £5... a little more, a little cheaper depending what shop you go to... a single can costs 50p - 75p, a small bottle costs £75 - £2 o.o; Share this post Link to post

Luk3us 63 Posted June 16, 2008 Your opinion is biased though. The majority of people don't need decent upload speeds, because at most they might upload a few photos here and there and maybe the odd video. Share this post Link to post

Majority of people don't, but it's very nice to have in my case. Especially with me hosting recover's C&C3 and KW videos. Those would have took forever without good upload. Mina Synd 0 Posted June 17, 2008 that's why i like the european aol ^^ they're actually pretty darn good o.o everyone chews out aol all the time but we've had good service apart from a month or so half a year back when my speeds got randomly capped. but i think that's cos they were upgrading everyone's speeds o.o; unlimited download/upload (well there is a FUP but it's very VERY reasonable) and apparently an 8MB connection all for about £27 per month o.o; Share this post Link to post
