Youtube... all the time :P

British Programming is at the stage now where it's pretty bland, uninspired and tries to rip off some American shows. This of course means it's just god damn awful and embarrassing to watch. British Comedy is no more... classic writing inspired from such comedy greats as Monty Python and Red Dwarf will never return to our screens. The same goes for educational documentaries, general entertainment, and even drama.

In fact most of the decent programming to be shown here is actually good quality American Export. Unfortunately the series 24 now sucks, it's like taking a single defined script, throwing the pages in the air, collecting them up from the floor, and using the new random order to create a new Season. With exception to the first season, the previous 5 have all been about attacks on CTU, corrupt moles within CTU and the US government etc. Season 7 proposes a new take on things... but if the recently shown Redemption is anything to go by, I doubt it!

But aside from that comedy such as Scrubs is fresh, enjoyable and surprisingly funny. Documentaries from the Discovery channel and National Geographic prove rather imformative. The quality of General entertainment has improved over the years as well, and Drama style programs like Fringe, The 4400 and Dead Zone... although it seems (with the latter 2) The USA Network are a bunch of idiots for killing off great TV shows.

So yeah, I stick with Youtube most of the time, because great TV is so hard to come by these days.

Your forgetting Top Gear Saracen, great British show. The IT crowd and Black Cooks are good too. As for me, not much at the moment, still have 1 and a half seasons of Greek I need to get through. Scrubs was great but they need to hurry up and finish season 7.

Top Gear's great. Doctor Who recently finished again here so we've gotta wait another 6 months after the rest of the world before we get it again. Holding out for next season of Spooks. Pirou is quite good. NCIS, used to watch that. Only program I really watch at the moment is Bones.

I read somewhere they're making a Blackadder special this christmas? That'd be cool.

There doesn't seem to be anything new (thats at least ok) atm over here, just reruns.

Meh Best of top gear will do for now.

PS. Going to see top gear live in auckland next year Woot!

TV is **** in NZ these days, repeats, repeats, repeats and more repeats.... oh and reality shows.

I just throw in a Stargate SG-1, Atlantis or SCRUBS DVD and watch that instead. Season 7 of SCRUBS is released on DVD very soon. All 11 episodes of it, usually around 22 episodes.

Let's see... I really only watch House, Family Guy, American Dad, Most Shocking/Daring, The Smoking Gun and forensic-y type shows. Everything else blows or is overrated trash. *coughprisonbreakcough*

He said I could tell everyone I'm watching paint dry so I think what I said counts. :P (I found out that Source is 14.9GB)

Wow. That's rather huge. I find for doing whole site backups it's easier (if you have ssh access) to zip everything up and just download the zip file through putty. Saves the time ftp takes to process each individual file.

aaah... tv... my love, my life ^-^

this is my speciality... normally i'm watching movies whenever i can find them. has to be something that peaks my interest though. and the problem with the movie channels... (i have Sky) is that there are Sky Movie channels... they are great but a lot of the time they show the same movies over a whole week, so you watch them once and have to wait for ages until the next time...

theeeen there are the channels like Film4, TCM and the Horror Channel... few other channels in that section... great movies but not all the time. then you have the little amateur movie channels like Movies4Men, True Movies and so on... they have some good stuff on sometimes but 9/10 they are really old and/or bad movies... the only other movie channels are pay per view ones like Sky Boxoffice (you thought i was talking about something else didn'tcha? >_>)

so yah apart from movies i watch a lot of documentories (so many infact, that i have seen every single remotely-war related documentory on all the documentory channels. i KNEW the day and time when a new one comes on the tv and i watch it xD; the only things i haven't seen yet is the old british tv series which was an inspiration for the war comedy parody " 'Allo 'Allo", the great show known as "Secret Army" for those of you uninformed it was about freedom fighters somewhere in europe. i think in secret army it was in belgium... but in allo allo it was france. basically the main character was a bar owner, and him, his family and local townspeople would help allied pilots escape and things like that)

yaah... in secret army, it was completely serious... somewhat depressing a lot of the time. it wasn't a standard drama show. pretty much anyone can die at any given time... it's a war drama, based around historical accounts and interviews with survivors and such... where allo allo on the other hand was an all-out comedy and parody of everything. because of the language barriers, rather then speak in the languages, everyone spoke in english but with horribly exaggerated accents. then you had the police officer who was a british secret services officer in disguise... he had learnt his french from an english school so he has a horrible accent, even to the characters. he gets words wrong and such, every sentence turning into a horrible innuendo, often resulting in double takes from other characters. his famous entry greeting being "good moaning!" x3;

another good war series the (UKTV history?) channel showed was Tenko... which was based around a group of women in WW2 who were captured by the japanese and put in a prison camp... mainly english elite & nurses, and dutch elite & nurses... all their men folk are kept in a prison camp elsewhere so you pretty much only see them briefly whilst everyone is in the camp. and don't think they treated them any better because they were women, totally the opposite infact... they were counted as fourth class citizens (1st class = japanese men, 2nd class = japanese women, 3rd class = enemies, 4th class = enemy women...) so although a lot of the time they didn't suffer the same physical tortures the men did, they suffered just as bad. often a lot of time to get anything, they would have to give sexual favours to the guards which in turn got them things they needed, but made the other women hate them...

the whole series is quite amazing. anyway back on task and AWAY from the documentory channels... XD i love watching all the old tv series... all the good stuff. starsky & hutch, battlestar galactica (original), A-Team (yes yes. but it is still awesome >.>), uuh... buck rogers, charlie's angels... basically all the old good popular tv series. there are an awful lot of them. they've kept me going for many a year...

then there are the animes. sadly anime on tv here is pretty rare. it shows on some random channel really late at night, but only a couple of animes... one i've already seen completely and another i'm not interested in. the only other stuff that shows are things like pokemon, digimon, yugioh and so on. a little gem i found was tokyo mew mew (cutely renamed as mew mew power or something...) but sadly i missed a few episodes and decided i wasn't gonna watch it unless it was from the start.

the sci-fi channel used to show a lot of anime when they had their eastern facination. from about 10pm they would show at least two anime movies in a row... then later at about 4am they would show about 2 hours worth of anime series :3 and mom let me watch all of them because she didn't realise the movies were about some of the most hardcore you could get in the anime world... over here animated violence automatically got rated at a 12 before the rating update a couple of years ago... now they are up to 15's i think... anyway. yah they showed some hardcore things. urotsukidoji (all of them), violence jack, la blue girl... countless others... (and on a side note, that is how i discovered tentacles xD)

i am glad i saw them now though... one great movie i saw was "riding bean" those familiar with gunsmith cats will recognize this prequel to the anime series... awesome movie it was. also non-anime but thrown in with the anime movies - the fist of the north star live action movie, and the story of ricky XD both hardcore kung-fu explosive action (and when i mean explosive... well... look them up. you will lul)

they showed many different series in the 4am - 6am time period... so i've seen a lot there. then there was cartoon network and toonami... some other kids channels that used to show awesome stuff...

nowadays though i watch a lot of different stuff... was watching Dr Who and Torchwood - eagerly awaiting their comeback (the good doctor is releasing a special on christmas! :3) aaaand there was Dead Set (once again, for those not informed: it's a zombie mini-series... basically focusing around the big brother cast and house. most of the actors are ex-big brother inmates, so they know how to drama. also davina is in it. yes. she gets zombified. and yes, it was SOOOOO satisfying to watch ^-^) but yah that was a REAL mini-series... i was hoping it would be a normal series but no. only like, 5 episodes. the whole thing is the length of one LotR movie... worth looking into though. end was a little lame but what were we really expecting? XD

good thing is though is it SHOULD bring in a swarm of zombie series' trying to cash in on the franchise. another one i inadvertantly discovered when i was trying to find something to view between movies was "survivors" i wasn't too sure what this was... i'd heard of it before. it's a remake of an old apocalypse series where a virus has wiped out most of humanity. the original was very good from what i've heard... the remake is... alright. however there doesn't seem to be any corpses anywhere (i missed the first episode so maybe that explains it) so there is only the small cast in each episode. the one i saw consisted of the survivors trying to chase out a gang which is denying them food in every shop...

also yah, top gear is good... i watch a lot of that... and a lot of those homer simpson-esque shows... y'know vid clip ones like "when buildings explode!" and "world's greatest police chases!" or whatever. i watch all of those... whatever i can get xD the invisible man tv series. that was good but stopped too quickly :\ i watched all the stuff like "flash gordon" and "sarah connor chronicles" but let's face it, they were horribly overrated teen-drama "smallville" style things. i DISPISE those. i only watched them because i love the originals of what they were based on (but not even superman, movie or original tv series, can get me to watch smallville >_>)

some GREAT shows i've been watching and eagerly awaiting more of - Dexter, and Chuck... (chuck being the one with the compy geek who inadvertantly becomes a superspy. only seen the first series so far...) and (dexter, being the one with the serial killer who kills other serial killers. seen the first and second series, i heard the third is already halfway through or done in the US...)

i'm curious about True Blood... i'm not really big on vampires, but having seen the title sequence... i'm definately willing to give it a try. i fell in love with the theme song so much, to the point i tracked the whole song down and downloaded it, even added it to my current music o.o; aaand the actual visuals for the title sequence. first of all i thought the show was about normal civil rights in the south. apparently it's about vampire rights. not much of a big difference... should be curious to watch. if anyone has watched it, reviews welcome. but i don't wanna hear any outhate hate spam.

believe me, i'm not a twilight fan. i'm hoping it's not gonna be anything like that. the only type of vampires i liked were the hammer horror stuff... (y'know, christopher lee and so on...) necause let's face it - hammer horror RULED. they came up with some epic stuff...

if you're looking for a slightly more modern version of hammer horror, i'd recommend Troma Entertainment stuff. they did toxic avenger! XD among many many others (just wiki them and read the list. i've seen at least half of the actual movies on that list and i love them to death...)

...and thus comes the end of my insane post ^-^ if you read to the end, you win a cookie

At the moment I am really getting into 24 and watch it when I have the time, 1.09 was nothing short of shocking, even more so when a friend had only just commented how terrorists who kidnap women never do anything to them. The new Sarah Connor Chronicles seems to have dropped in quality...is this due to the writers strike? I saw the first episode of The Unit with David Haysbert (David Palmer) and want to watch more and when I can a Simpsons marathon would be good too. I might even squeeze in Charlies Angels and have been meaning to see Saving Private Ryan.

i mentioned all those teen drama show style stuff... yah sarah connor was fail ._. i had (sort) of high hopes for it. first of all. then i saw the cast photos and discovered there was a female terminator. and thus the fans wept XD i watched the first series but i kept falling asleep halfway through. at the time i wasn't staying up that late and it wasn't particularly facinating... so i only knew half of what was going on anyway.

by the time i got around to watching the second series, i was staying up later so i could actually pay attention. however it just bored and irritated me so i stopped nearly straight away.

seen a lot of good movies lately. many many. there was one interesting action movie i've seen recently. i think it was called "the big score" or something. had mark wahlberg in it... it was a nice blend of action, gun fights and comedy. also shoot 'em up. i LOVED that movie. it was amazing. had a couple of slightly low points but for the majority of the movie i was laughing so hard i cried xD definately one of the best comedies i've seen in a long time and it was an ACTION comedy at that so it is epic ^-^
