Red Alert 3 Expansion: Uprising In Development?

Recommended Posts

While nothing has been officially announced just yet. Rumours are circulating that the first expansion pack for Red Alert 3, called "Uprising" is in development right now at EALA. This was mentioned in a short article posted at WorthPlaying, also posted here on the French gaming site, Clubic.com. That's all we have right now. An unconfirmed, rumoured title for the Red Alert 3 expansion pack.

"Uprising", how original.

Regardless of who supposedly wins the war, am I the only one thinking it should be called "The Hoff Strikes Back!"

RA3 did lack some of the humour that was supposed to be there, at least make amends and start from the title this time around.

rofl. They could at least give RA3 some nice exposure time with out attempting to shove an expansion down our throats.

Please understand that this is just a rumour. Could turn out to be utter rubbish. If its true its not like the expansion is coming out any time soon. I'd guess its a minimum of at least six months away.

One question that I'd like answered is if this expansion is actually in development at EALA or is it outsourced like Kane's Wrath was.

I know its only a rumor. But FFS, its too soon, even if its released in six months time... It splits the online community up whenever they make an expansion. :(

I hope that Breakaway games keep away from the expansion. I mean TW was pretty solid by 1.09, but when KW came out it had the same old bugs that previous versions of TW had... Ugh, I hope they get their **** together..

Oh and speaking of telling us everything before the game comes out, anyone else notice how they still haven't updated all the unit profiles on the main site? I know its not a priority now, but still, they could at least finish it off, or just remove it entirely. Its not as though EA is a small company or anything. :P haha

I think that's APOC job to get those profiles up. But he has been really busy since RA3 hit retail. Besides what are they going to tell you that you don't already know.

According to the French site, it is "developed by the same team as the game core team headed by Amer Ajami." I don't know if that answers your question or not.

I'm not quite sure about this. Part of me wants a really cool expansion to come out as soon as possible, but another part of me reminds me that KW wasn't exactly the best expansion ever. I hope that if it's true:

A. It won't be outsourced.

B. It won't be some lame "mini-expansion." Please. That would destroy a part of me to know I'd have to buy four games to get what could just be done in one.

Who makes a game nowadays without planning for an expansion? ;)

Mod SDK?

No news on the Mod SDK Mighty BOB!, assuming that's what you mean.

That doesn't really appeal to me. ;) Especially if I'd have to change programs for when I wanted more multiplayer maps or whatever, then change when I wanted to play the new stuff in the OTHER expansion. It'd just be stupid to me.

I agree. That's my biggest dislike of expansion packs.

I think big expansion packs are still much better than booster packs where the content included costs much more and doesn't improve the game that much.

All I'll say is they better release an SDK and this time it better be compatible with the expansion. They had better of learned from the KW SDK faux pas.
