Firefox Irony

Recommended Posts

So yes, I finally converted to firefox after the latest IE exploit. I was particularly concerned about my netbank security.

The irony is, when I logged into my netbank, the website said they REQUIRED internet explorer to work.

So I'm 99% converted to firefox, except when I need to make a large cash transfer to buy some wierd ebay thing - like Michael Jackson's original nose.

well if he's using a mainstream, wellknown bank...

chances are it's usually a good thing if it only supports a certain browser type. if you have more browsers, there is more options for hacking. and it's more then possible that a firefox add-on that wasn't made by mozilla could possibly contain something like a keylogger...

or y'know, it could just be cos the bank techies are lazy or fail at their job. but whatever the case it's not really a big issue is it? if you are that worried about it you should contact the bank people and ask them about the browsers. if they say no and you are worried that much, change banks o.o; simple as that xD

Yea changing banks isn't too hard, especially when you consider how important it is to have a good, secure bank.

A bank only supporting one browser is just pure laziness on their part.

laziness... maybe. But it sure narrows done one set of problems. It's just that they picked the wrong/worst one!

(Problems with switching banks are incurred when you have auto-debits. But none the less, I like my mainstream bank and won't change.)

... but that would be my fault and not the banks Sith.

That's the great thing about being a dev - you don't have to do anything extra unless the customer needs it.

I have simple needs Sonic, which IE was meeting. Firefox never captured my imagination... despite everyone's wild acclamation.

Not everyone needs to switch you know. People have simple needs... like... BROWSING THE WEB! IE does that fairly. ANd I recently only swapped back to FF3 because IE7 stopped working with tabs, kinda.

I use IE on one computer and FF on another, I use them where they function better.

Both are installed on both computers though, so I can switch between them whenever I feel like it.

Live Bookmarks are about the ONLY reason I don't use Chrome, IE, or Opera.

Dude, check out the IE plugin for Firefox; it's quite handy ;)

Bwahaha :P "Hey kids.. ever imagine what it's like to browse with IE? Now you can... right in FF!"
