Command & Conquer Mega-Bomb Drops in July

Recommended Posts

The latest Command & Conquer fan newsletter was sent out today. The main news item says that a "Command & Conquer Mega-Bomb Drops Early July", with the other news from today it would seem that a bomb did drop early, probably way to early. The big Command & Conquer 4 announcement wasn't expected until late July. Anyway it looks like we can expect that someone very near and dear to the heart of the C&C franchise will soon have a message for us all.....

They had no choice after the leak I guess :) I hope it's Joe Kucan. That would be so awesome.

From what I can tell the leak on Twitter and the newsletter basically came out the same time. So they didn't rush this newsletter out or anything like that.

I guess they had it ready and would send it anyways.

Maybe, but they had him pop up first when they announced C&C3 so someone new would be nice...

Not saying that the Messiah is a bad thing or anything of course. ;)

For a completely random choice, let it be Frank Klepacki!

I would rofl if its Treasurer Boyle (forget the actor name >.<) who announces it xD

WAIT! What if it's cabal announcing it :o!

It would make sense if it was Joe Kucan or Frank Klepacki or someone part of the Westwood times would announce it. Though it would be awesome to have Cabal, thus hinting that C&C4 would have the return of Cabal ;)

My guess is that it's Louis Castle... again.

I would prefer Brett Sperry.

Just checked in with the storyline teller, our C&C founders are already working elsewhere. AND forget Louis Castle, he's not very useful to us, and I find Sam Bass is the one going to explain the new story as stated by Raj. So far, I find Sam is a good writer since he worked with C&C3 & KW. :)

Not to sound mean or disrespecting Sam Bass, but the story of C&C3 wasn't very good, maybe it was the FMVs, maybe it was the missions, i just couldn't be sure. However KW seems to be so much better in several ways. Hope he comes out with something awesome this time round.

Oh yeah, forgot about that, anyway, the FMV is quite not good when the actors should not be celebrities, all that excessive use of celebrities only waste the budget when they should focus on our lack of CGI problem, which right now I wonder if anyone here in the community takes that seriously.

Couldn't agree more with you Malev. imo it was the missions, they seemed similiar and dull.

I agree, speaking of missions, I hope they'll bring back the original "theater of war" system just like from Tiberian Sun, and this time make sure they are no longer going through the wrong direction just like they did with C&C3. I don't understand how come they do such a terrible job in the C&C3 missions which makes them linear instead of interactive. I wish EA copies the old Tiberian Sun theater of war system & mission so it'll solves all the problems. Moreover, they should even play the game itself so they can get the complete idea of how it's done.

What? Are you crazy? Developers going back to their source material for consistency? It's unheard of! Heresy even!

I've got to be honest, if you tell them not to play back Tiberian Sun & use it as reference, then would you want your C&C4 missions to become end up as linear missions just like in C&C3? The Theater of War (ToW) system is still a key content since TD & even RA1, do we have to just throw it away? The system belongs to the franchise, NOT Westwood.

C&C3's missions are all linear and it uses the ToW is FAKE! They're still linears! Don't get me wrong, many fans like ourselves can see that even some game sites. Even the older Dune & Emperor : Battle for Dune games made by Westwood also use the Theater of War system, they're NOT linear missions.

If EA would to revive Dune, will they make the missions linear? Ask yourself, put yourself into the dev's shoes and let's see what do you think.

Your'e absolutely right Silver. But to be honest it just seems like the developers get a quick look at the background story of the previous games and how the new story is and then start pumping boring missions out.

What I could reeealy miss is those missions where you get only a little group of units and has to get from A to B without loosing your engineer or something.

If the developers played these missions they would know that it is important to have in the new games as well.

True, they should experience like :

Primary : Destroy Nod base

Secondary A : Liberate GDI air base to acquire air support

Secondary B : Destroy Nod's refining base to cripple the primary base's resources

C&C3 doesn't do all that. TS will do something like that, and I wonder if the devs would consider the idea like this. And I hope they better play TS for real as reference, don't just look on the surface, play it as well. After all, there's a HUGE difference between playing the primary mission with secondary ones completed & playing primary straight away without completing the secondary ones!

yeah, indeed. And they need to listen aswell. They could use sounds and music as reference in developing as much as the visuals.

I don't know but C&C3 didn't seem gloomy and apocalyptic in any way other than the interface menu picture and the concept art. And it seems wierd since C&C3 is after TS.
