Will EA Announce the Next C&C at Gamescom?

NowGamer reports that EA will unveil some new games at Gamescom in Cologne tomorrow. The fans speculate that one of those games will be the new Command & Conquer game by Victory Games, but nothing is confirmed.

 

EA will have something to unveil at its Gamescom press conference which begins at 3pm UK time tomorrow, the publisher has confirmed.

A Syndicate reboot from Starbreeze is currently the most-rumoured reveal for the Cologne based videogame event, and could feature during EA's presentation.

Watch the whole thing unfold online yourself, with EA's stream. EA's description uses the plural, so other games could be announced too - but what?

They've waited too long, IMO. More and more people are leaving the community. I wouldn't be surprised if C&C would fall to a case similar to Dark Colony if it weren't for these speculations...

"Build it and they will come." Even if the community continues to dwindle because EA has done pretty bad with C&C up until now, if they can make a solid game I'm sure people would come back to play it and discuss it.

I think they might announce it with a very small teaser trailer without even letting us know what universe the game is based on. Just to keep the community buzzing.

I doubt it, Gamescon isn't big enough to warrant such an announcement.

Not even a tiny little announcement? I think so. As IkRaven said, a small teaser of some sort that doesn't really reveal anything just to keep the community buzzing, would be a smart move at this point.

What are experiencing now is just like the 2002-2006 era between Generals and C&C 3. Once EA announced C&C 3 the community got the massive kick in the ass it needed. The same will happen again. When the news of the new C&C game hits, many people who quit the community will come flooding back, many fansites will pop up and claim to be newest and best source for news on the new game. Then these so called news awesome sites will loose interest and slowly fade away like some many others have over years.... meanwhile CNCNZ.com keeps going

This is basically what happened back in 2006/2007. History will repeat itself once again.

 

Anyway. I don't expect any new C&C game announcements until at least February or March 2012.

 

You know if you look back at the 2006-2009 period, we were kind of spoiled (or is that buried) with C&C games being announced/released so close together.

• 2008 - Red Alert 3
• 2008 - Tiberium
• 2009 - C&C 4

Actually JVC said they going to announce a new C&C later this year:

JVC: I can tell you it’s a Command & Conquer game for the PC, but we’re not yet at a stage where I can go into any details—we’ll be prepared to make a more formal announcement later in the year. We’re not just working on a game, though. Our general focus is on the future of Command & Conquer. That means updating a lot of the core technology to create a stable base for future development, and leveraging that work on this first game.
