How did you get your community name?

Here's a good one to tell a story about. How did you end up with the name you use here in the community?

 

Is Tree a tree surgeon? Does Sonic run as fast as the little blue sega mascot? And is chickendippers a chicken nugget fanatic? Or is there a more or less simpler explanation? Tell us right here... (sorry guys if they we're inappropriate examples but I thought they'd be canny ideas) :wink:

I would have used a Tanya style ID, but I joined up at a time when I was unhappy with America, and thought how I liked the Chinease in Generals. I thought of an appropriate name and Better Red Than Dead just came to mind, and I thought yes, that was good, so I used it as my ID. Then I thought, why not have General Leang as my ID? She was perhaps my favourite character in the game. And so, when I made 120 posts I made a request to have my rank and ID changed, a request that I am pleased to say was granted.

If you having login problems or trouble staying logged in you must first make sure your browser is set to retain cookies files. Some settings can make it so your cookies expire when you close the browser or log off from Windows.

 

Next empty your Temporary Internet Files folder. This usually located at C:Documents and SettingsUserNameLocal SettingsTemporary Internet Files. "Change UserName" to what yours is of course.

 

With Internet Explorer closed, open that folder in Windows Explorer and delete the lot. Now goto http://forums.cncnz.com and log in, check the box so the forums remember you when you return. This will create a new cookie file. You test this be closing your browser and then returning again.

and a few days or weeks later (can't remember) my account was gone, due to some changes with the network forums I guess....

 

so I created a new one, cause actually I wasn't really pleased with that name

Well, I was looking to join another forum board, but the nicks I wanted were taken. And since, at that stage I was only posting in the C&C Renegade forum, and I'd just been playing Ren online, I didnt want to use the main chars name from Renegade cos it would be too obvious. So I chose DeadEye, cos he was a cool char in the game

Hmm....Me, J-Fire_Man

 

My real name is Firman. When I'm 12 years old, I thought that English will say Firman with fireman. I was called like that since 5 years ago. Then I made a slight variation cause people often mistook me as a real FIREMAN, so I use Fire_Man.

 

And J, hmm......this one is pretty hard to explain. J is a code. Given by my previous community. J also represent my personality. Just guess what J means. Doesn't it's sort for something?

 

At the present , J-Fire_Man also used for my "secret" code.

 

Conclusion: I like this name, so there is a big possibilty if you meet someone with this name, that's me. Try using google, you will only find one J-Fire_Man.[/i]

I think I told C&C King this already on MSN, but basically there were adverts on telle with an annoying catchey tune for "Birdseye Chicken Dippers" and "dippers" kinda rhymed with my nickname "Kippers" so some-one at school just started calling me it.

I was in need of a screen name to register a domain with and Kippers was too short, so I used the 1st thing that poped into my head - and it's stuck ever since

After I discovered TSNNZ I was searching for other sites, and this IRC chatroom was a big centre off a site called either CnC- Corner, CnC-Barracks or even the well known CnC-Central... anyway people were in there and needed somebody to help them with Tiberian Sun... oh lucky me! I came in with my old Area101 ID that I used on the TSNNZ forums, how that name was gonna change fast..

 

Anyway I and spent 3 hours in that room helping out over 20 or so people just on Tiberian Sun... after it had all ended people were amazed at the fact that I knew all the Tiberian Sun missions inside out from beginning to end on both GDI and Nod...

 

Then one of them decides to give me a test on my C&C knowledge, thinking that I was just a so-called n00b know-it-all who knew nothign but Tiberian Sun... So he asks me to list the elements and gasses of Tiberium and there percentages... I being absolutely eating sleeping and brething C&C at the time told him the correct elements, gasses, and their percentages.

 

Other questions came up, like on Red Alert what is mission 8 of Allies, Mission 5 on soviets, and in Tiberian Dawn what is Mission 10 on GDI, Mission 3 on Nod. And once again I instantly started typing down what the missions were about and even what countries they took place in.. Ask me to do that now, and I couldn't tell ya... that's how addicted I was to C&C at the age of 16...

 

The questions kept coming and I'd tell them correctly instantly. All this stunned the chat users and I was given the title "C&C King" through being a walking talking C&C encyclopaedia which was more accurate and had more information than the version on C&C Planet right now.

 

Some people think this name is my big EGO speaking, and that's generally why I don't have as much respect as many of the other community staff, as my name gives me a common misconception. Unless it's Renegade, I'm totally crap at C&C games online.... Single player that's a different story. But I hate getting e-mails with people saying that they can take my title... so I tell them this story and then I say,

 

Go on then, you tell us right now without searching on the net for every element, gas and their percentages in Tiberium, tell me these 19 other questions I've got lined up for you by just recalling from your own memory instantly. Then you can have my title!

 

They can't do it, it shuts them up and I get massive respect for telling them this explanation of how I got my name.

Mine came about because I needed something relatively original, that works in most gaming situations. And it does. Although I have many others that are just as original, this is the one I use most of the time as it's easier should I run into people I know.
