When & How did you join the community??

Recommended Posts

I posted in this thread concerning CNCNZ.com's web-site history:

And one (CNCNZ's History) I am certainly proud to be part of, even if I was just a visitor in 1998. There's nothing I haven't seen CNCNZ go through. I am effectively the longest running full time active visitor to this web-site, and perhaps one of the oldest community members still active today.

I remember joining the community as "Area 101" back in 1997 with my 28.8k modem... The first site I ever went to was a Red Alert fan-site called "The Vortex", just before the site shut down I was made aware of a new site in the community known as TSNNZ and that's how it all started.... oh how I remember the old days.

So when did you join the C&C community, and how did you go about joining it?

Technically, I'm not a part of community. I just hang at a few C&C boards but I joined as a modder in 2000/2001. I wanted to see what this 'modding' was all about and it's been with me ever since I first tweaked RA2. Now I'm accomplished (in a way of my own) and I run my own website.

I wanted to make and run a site. After a few failed attempts at making sites about Arcanum (The game I was playing at the time) I decided to try one for CNC. First I made Tree's World, which was horrible. Don't go there, it has some weird spyware thing that FreeWebs put into the coding. Then there was Bronze Studios, that never took off, and no one except for me really saw that site. Then, there was CNC Tomorrow. Although its not that great, and I didn't do hardly any of the coding, I think its cool that I finnaly achieved my goal(s). Now, I also run NeonCube.net and Co-run the Unleashed Network.

Joined the community since: As a webbie Aug 2001, as a visitor before that.

How you joined: Refered to T-MW by Clazzy for map downloads for TibSun.

Why you joined: I like webmastering/making sites and C&C.

Started up CnC Invasion which I left to resurect the mighty T-MW. CnCI became RedAlert-2.com (unfortunately now dead).

Quit T-MW (which died soon after) and joined Westwood Experience, but Aaron shut that down soon after I joined.

Then I joined CnCWorld and will be launching Version 8 next month which is completely my own work (except the layout).

The CnC Invasion layou hasn't been preserved by the Wayback Machine which is a shame because I paid quite a lot for it.

I joined the Community when I got Tiberian Sun in 2000, and been editing that with Tibed for quite a while, after that in May 2004 the WR Mod started :)

Bragging about using TibEd... Shameful. :P

As for me starting a decent mod, I began YR: Advanced sometime in 2002. I still have yet to finish it though... I need to get on that sometime. :P

Long time ago I played a covert opts game known as Delta Force 2. I got hooked on it from a friend and even joined a clan. Though Warcraft2 would be my first time online delta force was sweet to play. Around that time RA2 just got released and I was a huge fan of the C@C games. After playing the game and creating some maps, I was trying to mod both TS and RA2. I came across an article in a magazine about some mods for RA2. One of them that sounded pretty cool was Eagle Red. From there I tried some other mods and found Tibed. The program seemed similar to Redit for RA1 and I started posting on the forums there and at the Eagle Red site as well. Now I just see the new games that come out and the ideas that go along with them.

I joined when i got interested in the C&C network and got full time access to the internet, which meant I could go on whenever I wanted to.

I got interested in C&C as a little boy from my cousin. He let me play Red Alert 1 when I was a boy. When RA2 came out, I tried it too. I got interested and bought the game myself. Once i got the C&C collection, my obsession with PC games grew and I started buying other games and Generals. Now I'm an active gamer.

I started to learn modding from my cousin. He showed me XCC and the ini files. I learnt how to edit INI files. He currently mods Renegade. He created new units and creates maps to go along with it, as well as editing mission maps.

I am beginning to learn how to properly mod Generals, not just editing INi files. I'm only 14 years old... I still have a long way to go as a C&C community member

Found this site several times as a reference for various C&C stuff. Watched the Forums for a while, then joined after I finally got my comp. Well 9 months after anyway. Then I began to mod.
