I don't have a favourite band, after a while the music gets dull and boring so I move on. ;)

One day as I was slitting my wrists... :P

Well, I was listening to the radio one day and said "This music is CRAP!" So I went to my brothers and they were all like "Metallica is the best, they're so hardcore and cool, and stuff" So I started listening to them. I've kind of moved on and listen to things like Alkaline Trio, Piebald, Anberlin, etc.

Ah... Anberlin is one of my favorite's too tree

While I don't have a single favorite, I have a group of three. They are:

the Juliana Theory

Zao

Further Seems Forever

A VERY close 4th that's edging its way in is Coheed & Cambria.

I mostly came to love them through friends. That's usually the best way... radio sucks :P

As we all know the legendary Metallica is my favourite band, and like most people I've been a fan since they hit it big with the Black Album back 1991. I recall an old friend at school giving me a cassette tape (anyone remember tapes) of Metallica. At the time I never really knew anything about them but then I was introduced to their back catalogue. Collected every album released in this country ever since.

I like too many to say I have a favorite. >_> And just about all of them I got into by sampling tracks I got off of various p2p networks. Megadeth, Rush, Dream Theater, the Blue Oyster Cult, Tom Petty... among a few I sampled and liked... a lot.

And for the curious, my friend got me into Metallica cause he had it playing at his house and I really liked it.

Before 7th grade I wasn't interested in music at all, instead I was playing PC games. However it finally got to me as I started listening to Linkin Park, then Frank Klepacki's tracks. I'm diversifying now listening to songs from various artists such as P.O.D., Static-X, 30 seconds to Mars, etc., not to mention soundtracks from LotR1, The Matrix trilogy, etc.

I don't have a select favourite either. I have a small group of favourites that I listen to exclusively:

Metallica

Audioslave

System of a Down

Sirenia

Lacuna Coil

Rush

Dream Theater

In that order.

Although I have to say that System of a Down was, and always will be, my first and foremost favourite band. I was introduced to them back in 1999 when my good friend Amy introduced me to them. If it was for her I would'nt have bought the first album (It annoys me to great end that people still think that 'Toxicity' is S.O.A.D's first album.).

I was instantly into Audioslave. They pwned so much that I pre-ordered their album about a month before the release.

Metallica is an interesting one for me, as I only started listening to them a little before the 2004 Big Day Out (which Metallica attended), and after that I was hooked. 'Nuff said.

My friend Steph introduced me to Sirenia and Lacuna Coil (and for that I'm glad. :D Once I get the Sirenia CDs I think they may replace Metallica as my most-listened to band :P), and Fenring got me into Dream Theater and Cygnus got me into Rush.

(anyone remember tapes?)

'Course man. :P

Darn right i did.

And they are amazing. GeneralZ got to see a clip of one of their songs (Xanadu-live from Frankfurt Germany) he liked it, lot of people do.

Forgot to mention Dream Theater in my post, Fenring introduced them to me. Pretty good stuff.

Ahh yes, System of a Down, back in May 2003 I remeber reading on the official Metallica boards all theses posts by all the anti-Metallica fans saying that Metallica imitated or copied System of a Down's sound and style for St Anger

:? Im thinking that Metalica hes been around slighty longer than SOAD, and has a more solid backing to them too

not that I personally like or dislike either of them over the other, SOAD is weird, but interesting, and Metalica has its hardcore rockness, as well as their own unique twist on things.

System of a Down is THE band because they make...different music than some other groups. (Listen to "She's Like Heroin" or "Johnny" if you don't know what I mean)

My favorite band is Rammstein. My friend came over with the album from "Ozzfest '98." It had one of thier songs called "Tier" on it. Then I got thier "Sehnsucht" album now I own them all plus limited editions: D. I dunno how many of you will actually know who they are but they had music in films such as Mortal Kombat Annihilation, The Matrix, And they appeared in the film XXX.

Guns N' Roses...hmmm... heard all the well known ones, Sweet Child and Welcome to the Jungle etc... xmas last year i decided to buy Appetite for Destruction. Listened to it, next day I went and bought all the rest. Since then I've acquired over 500 GnR songs (Demos, Lives versions etc...and I could probably sing and play almost every one on guitar).

I was brought to NIN by the fact that my girlfriend wore a T-shirt saying "Nine Inch Nails", which, due to her humongous breasts, actually said

NINE INCH NAILS

Well, I decided to give them a try.

And Trent Reznor is pure pwnage.

Its due to the way the St Anger album sounded with its raw production and Lars' snare drum sounding more like a tin can. I recall the term "Nu-Metal" being used all the time and how Metallica were trying to hard to sound "Nu-Metal" for St Anger.

Any true Metallica fan knows that St Anger is some of heaviest sounding music the band has produced on an album since And Justice for All.

Rap is crap, its not music, just a bunch of no talent people who can't sing so they talk their way through 3 and half minutes of a generic beat
