I think your also forgetting that in western culture, women arent equals either. on average women get paid less for doing the exact same job as men and the percentage of women in higer paid positions is far less than men. Staticticle western nations have far higher percentages of rape than islamic cultures (and dont give me that the definition of rape isnt as strict or whatever in islam because the UN uses the same definition worldwide. And no it doesnt need to be reported to the government for the UN to know it exists)

Not always true. A person's hormones determines his sexual attractions. It's the same reason why some men love redheads, Asian girls or, well, other men... all in the hormones. This has very little to do with the brain recognizing different genes.

I was doing a little bit of research last night, and I've noticed a few "trends" with the popular religions.

 

Judaism-long history here, in addition to wars of conquest to take the "Holy Land" the first time aorund. Persecution against those who werent "pure" (ie samaritans)

 

Christianity-somewhat shorter history, a bunch of failed crusades (and one successful one) to take the "Holy Land" from the then ruling Arabs who held it. Religious persecution against other religions and cults, as well as global expansion and "converting" of other cultures (ie American Natives ect)

 

Islam-strong beliefs against any of another religion, has things like Jihad, and while not practiced by everyone, the fact that it exists..... Thier viewws on religious "purification" of the human race. ie convert to Islam. Same thing as the Christians, only Christianity had a leg up when Constantine (a pagan Emperor till his death. Strange, no?) made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire.

 

All three of these preach peace, yet we have....*counts on fingers* at least 6 millenia of warfare for the Jews, similar time span for the Muslims, and 2 millenia for hte Christians. All of these religions of "peace" and "equality" under "one God" all seem bent on destorying one or the other at various points in history. Right now, the Christians are on a break, after Hitler (yes, he was indeed a Christian. Catholic at that) went nuts on the Jews, now the Muslims are at the throats of the Israelis for invading the "Holy Land" yet again.

The only way humanitys lasted this long is due to things like this. It sounds daft but if Groups of humans didnt get together under a common cause/religion it would just be family groups of humans like the animal kingdom. You rarly see groups of say lions or monkeys that arnt family members working together.

 

Now theres also a flip side to this.

 

If we did ALL work together then R&D would take a stupidly long time. Most of humanitys discoverys and advances have been directly or partialy been brought about by the impact of war.

 

We wouldnt have mass production if guns and bombs wernt mass produced in such huge numbers in factories. Computers wouldnt exist without the enigma code breakers at Bletchley Park. The internet wouldnt be how it is today without the US millitary pouring money into it as a cold-war worse case senario method of contacting the silos.

 

Now I know this has no direct link to the subject but dont forget the advances the US millitary are having in Afganistan and Iraq. The AI work with the Predator UAVs is unbelivable. The amount the US is currently spending on military R&D is astronomical. This wouldnt have been posible without 9/11. Since 9/11 Congress has aproved $337 billion in 'war' cash.

 

There is no way congress could have aproved $337 billion spending for the millitary without 9/11. It may seem harsh but from this and any millitary advancments during the 'wars' we will see inovations and inventions that would have been many many years in the making without 9/11 fairly soon.

 

9/11 should have never happened and nothing will be able to lessen the fact that it could have been avoidable. Even if flight 11 or flight 175 had reinforced doors or better security at the departures gate the 'wars' may not have occured like they did on such a large scale and 1000 US and 100 UK troops would still be alive.
