C&C Movies Opens

Recommended Posts

If you have watched episode of 2 of Battlecast Primetime you would have seen the news about the lunch of the new C&C Movies site. This new site, created by APOC as a gift to the community, lets you relive all your favourite moments in the FMV sequences from all the C&C games.

COMMAND & CONQUER 12TH ANNIVERSARY

WATCH ALL THE ORIGINAL FMV MOVIES

Twelve years ago when Command & Conquer brought Real-Time-Strategy gaming to the masses, it also introduced a new way of story-telling through live-action video sequences. Through the magic of these live-action sequences, the epic saga of Command & Conquer has come to life.

We've created the ultimate site for Command & Conquer fans, www.cncmovies.com, where you can view nearly all the original

full motion video sequences for every major Command & Conquer game-from the Tiberium Wars to the Red Alert universe!

Kane, Tanya, Yuri, Slavik, Cabal, Vega, Solomon, McNeil, Carville, Tratos, Umagon, Dugan, Romanov, Stalin, Havoc, Eva, and quite a few others are waiting for you!

The FMVs from Tiberium Wars are not included on this new site though. And there is mention of C&C Generals either, probably because the game never really had any. Anyway check out C&C Movies for yourself.

This indeed is my personal passionate gift back to the community to celebrate the 12th anniversary. I've always wanted a website like this where I could go and watch all the movies, and people have been trying to find them all over YouTube or anywhere, so I thought, why not make the ultimate website where you can relive all your Red Alert and Tiberium FMV dreams. I felt the C&C community would truly enjoy site like this, born and bred for you guys.

Generals and Zero Hour were not included because the focus here is on the true C&C storylines :o) Maybe some day i'll add them.

I am not a professional web designer, my goal was to make something stylistic but easy to navigate.

I've spent all month little by little creating this site and it took me a helluva lot of time, and many tools to get all the videos off the disc and converted to formats that I could convert back to flash. I should have documented the process, it was insane. Olaf's XCC Mixer rules, just rules. I used that, a VQA converter, RAD video tools, Quicktime Pro, Adobe Flash, and some other programs to get it all done right.

At any rate, I hope you guys truly enjoy this website and visit it for weeks, months, and years to come. Any time you want to remember the story and cinematic glory moments of C&C, now you have a home to do so.

Some day i'll put up all the C&C 3 cinematics, hehe, not yet.

I am pretty sure just about every video for C&C is up there. I may be missing the portrait videos for Yuris Revenge, but whose counting right now when you have some 100+ others to watch, hehe.

Enjoy!

Well... this actually reminds me of... myself.

To skip the confusion, many of you probably know of the C&C FMV Collection I'm doing (it was posted on the front page here on cncnz a while ago)...

Apoc, if you haven't checked it out, I encourage you to, the response have so far been great.

In contrast to what's available on cncmovies.com, my videos got the FMV's in order for each storyline, with all the little clips in between missions as well.

I've uploaded everything on Google Video as well as supplied downloads.

If you want, I would appreciate if EA would be able to host the videos on cncmovies.com or elsewhere.

So far I've been uploading to filefront, but filefront deletes the videos after a while so I haven't been able to maintain a consistent hosting site.

If you want to do this, mail me at [email protected] or send me a pm and I'll transfer the downloadable versions to you somehow.

Thanks.

So Apoc you actually made the site yourself, and converted everything over and blah, blah, blah? Now see, who ever said he was a ****ty Community Manager? He now officially kicks ass.

Anyway, this site is awesome, for nostalgic value anyway. :P

Also you have to put this

of Havoc harassing the Renegade staff. lol..

Really really awesome. Great job Apoc.

Though Red Alert is sort of in the Tiberium Universe... but whatever. :P

I would like to say, that all of the videos are in sequential order. That was the part which took the longest. I had to go in to the INI files to double check what came when.

Tiberian Sun section I need to modify, the IGC's need to be placed in between, but otherwise, every other game's movies are completely sequential.

Did you notice for Red Alert 2 I even have the portrait videos in there? :o)

I really do think the above site is awesome as well Recover. That is very cool that we did somewhat of the same thing. I'll check out your site and see if I am missing anything. I have the Havoc Westwood video, that is definitely a classic. I can get that in soon enough.

Red Alert Retaliation, hehe, yes I do know of that one. That is a bit complicated but i'll do my best.

Thanks again everyone, glad you guys are enjoying it.

Hey... I ripped the music from Retal so you should be able to get the video. ;p

I got the portrait images in my RA2 videos as well, but I've included them like they appear in the game, you are shown a frame from the in-game interface (in the map and setting the video appears in) and with the video in the radar.

To ensure quality in my videos I've replayed all the games and done quite a bit of thinking before deciding in which order the videos should appear in, to make it as enjoyable as possible.

I only got RA: Retaliation, RA2: Yuri's Revenge, and C&C3 left before the collection is complete.

The only thing that's left to improve is the quality, and the only thing to do that is to have access to the raw recordings.

Apoc, you are probably the only person in the world that have the possibility to do what I'm about to propose.

Since you work at EALA, you should have access to all C&C raw data, so you should be able to retrieve the videos in very high quality from your C&C-archives (unless it all was trashed when Westwood disappeared).

I'm confident that this is possible since I've seen screenshots of the Tiberian Dawn FMV's in high-resolution (640x480) that Westwood released.

Anyway, it's worth to try. :P

As far as I know the file I linked on CNC World has every video from Retaliation. They're in a mix file so they are easy to extract.

Right when I read this title I instantly thought "oh man, what's recover gonna say?". Oh well, he doesn't look too mad, but he's had another of his projects squished by EA releasing the same thing. (Reference to him making a Globe of Green/Yellow/Red zones.)

Meh, at least more of the masses will get exposure to this and it's a kind gesture.

(And haha to the people who thought Generals was true C&C... *cough* punwisp *cough*)

I don't know if it's just me, but I keep on trying to get onto the cncmovies.com site, and it keeps redirecting me automatically to commandandconquer.com. Is anyone else getting this problem?

Hehe, I'm not too mad since I still consider my collection to be better since the videos are connected, got the highest quality I can provide, and includes all the nice tidbits you need.

Yes, it's all too sad really about the tiberium earth ripoff. I did post it both in the pure pwnage forums and the official C&C board, and about a month later (or something like that), EA posted Tiberium Earth. It had almost the exact elements (used Google Earth etc.) only with real authentic information (as I didn't have and EA hadn't provided that information before).

I wouldn't be irritated or annoyed if EA would at least acknowledge me/credit me for the initial idea etc.

TheSoVietBlackOuT; you've been the best supportor during the creation of my C&C fmv collection, you've helped a lot, thanks! :D

I love the C&C series, especially the older games. They were a big area of my childhood, and to relive those moments and spread it with other people (especially the clueless masses of Gen/ZH/CNC3 players) is always great. And I have you to thank.

And it's something I've always loved about the C&C community, if EA never does something we'd think is cool that isn't there, people will create, modify, or do whatever to anything. Look at the community's efforts: FMVs, Earth, mods, patches, TFD and C&C game fixes. No one could look me in the face and tell me the C&C community sucks. Really we have one of the best communities out of the whole damn gaming industry.

And good to see you not too mad. I do agree credit should be at least given to you for the Earth thing and the videos. But oh well, if more people are exposed to C&C's past I can't really complain, but I hope they do acknowledge you somewhere.

News flash! Cncmovies.com redirects to the official C&C site!

From Planet CnC:

As many of you have noticed, Apoc's CnCMovies.com is no longer available, it merely forwards to the official C&C 3 Web site. This is due to unexpected legal issues, as explained by Apoc:
The unfortunate reason for this is we are currently having some legal ramifications with the site that we are trying to quickly sort out. As you can imagine, a site which plays host to some 50+ actors who have been apart of the Command & Conquer series in its 12 year run thus far, can of course have some legal issues attached to it.

We had thought we were in the clear but were then asked to bring the site down temporarily. We will not have further info on getting the site back up until at least Monday. This of course is heart-breaking news to me as this special project was my personal community manager gift back to the community to celebrate the 12th anniversary.

So, lets all cross our fingers that we can get this legally sorted and this "historic" site back up and running.

Thanks again for the compliments and support, I hope to get this resolved favorably. It’s very uncertain right now. Will keep you posted.

We'll see how this plays out.
