No 2nd Expansion for C&C 3 Says Mike Verdu

Ever since the release of Kane's Wrath fans have speculated and wondered if there would be a second expansion for Command & Conquer 3. With the main executable file for Kane's Wrath called "cnc3ep1.exe" and many references to "episode 1" in some of the game's internal files its a valid question. With that in mind German site, C&C Inside, have asked EALA's Vice President Mike Verdu, would there be a second expansion for Command & Conquer 3? And the answer is no. Mike Verdu basically denies any reports about more C&C 3 expansions. With Red Alert 3 in production it seems to make a lot of sense. Yeah saw that coming, with RA3 being annouced it was kinda clear they wouldn't be going with another expansion pack for C&C3. Which is fair enough, as if they started adding any more units we'd really start to see a serious overlap in combat roles. Though a nice SP expansion pack would be cool, it won't happen.

 

So bring on RA3!

Saw this coming from a mile away with RA:3 announced. Im sure we'll see a C&C 4 within the next few years, i mean with EA pumping out C&C games like a family of rabbits on speed im sure the series will die here within the next 5 to 10 years or so.

That's good, because Kane's Wrath was very bad expansion pack. EA advertises Kane as a king of the game just like the game wouldn't sell without that information. Kane is not a celebrity, he is a mysterious leader of NOD.

 

And however the story and videos were also so bad... Too much of Kane and talking to the camera.

It wouldn't have mattered when the expansion would have been released, so after RA3 would have been fine for me. I think there are more stories to tell in this current universe, before TIBERIUM opens up other possibilities.

 

Well maybe what I'm saying is I'm still dissapointed with the current fiction... and want more fleshing out.

Actually, EALA still hold the licenses to JRR Tolkien's books and the movie licenses too. This will means the C&C community is due a quiet period after the current games we see here and their inevitable expansions. With a 2 part Hobbit movie due out around 2010, I really cannot see another C&C RTS announcement after RA3 until mid-late 2011, with the game's release being sometime in 2012.

With that sort of delay - C&C4 with a new engine seems not only feasible but more likely.

I seriously doubt they'd make a Hobbit RTS, the Hobbit doesn't suite a RTS environment. They'll probably make some ****** RPG or something lame, which is fine since that is a different part of EA.

I like it better when games only have one expansion pack. Because if C&C3 would have had a 2nd expansion, Kane's Wrath would have shorter in story telling which is not so exciting. And People would split up into the 3 games, which means there would be little people playing on C&C3, Kane's Wrath, and the 2nd expansion online.

Great. Leave the C&C Tiberium universe with a greater cliffhanger than that of HALO 2. AND I HATE CLIFFHANGERS (especially with no other expansion to back it up).

 

All that excitement and money for KW feels wasted now.

 

I can understand the room they need to make with RA3, but dont force us to buy Tiberium so that we know what happens NEXT in the storyline.
