  1. How can it be a late decision? Because I didn't get one when the phone was first released? Not sure what happened there. All fixed now though.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

3D is a gimmick created by the movie industry and theatres in an attempted to squeeze more money from the viewing the public. I will be happy to watch the new Star Wars on the big screen in 2D. I have watched many movies that way in recent years, never gave a **** about the the 3D rubbish. Movies don't have to be in 3D to be good.
  3. Patch v1.86 for the Rise of the Reds mod for Zero Hour has been released. This version includes many bug fixes, game changes, maps changes and faction specific changes. This is not a full release and requires Rise of the Reds v1.85 to be installed for this patch to work properly. Click here to see the full list of changes and to download the patch.
  4. As I mentioned the other day in this topic, I've just had my new Fibre internet connection set up and enabled. Very pleased with the new speeds. And unlimited data as well.
  5. With updates to the current public release of the Twisted Insurrection mod for Tiberian Sun coming to an end, development has now shifted on the next internal Version, 0.50. 6. Its time to catch up on the latest development news about Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising from the team at W3D Hub. The November update features screenshots of the Airforce Command HQ interiors, an early preview of some land and naval crates. There is also a video demonstrating how the new and improved defense turrets work in the game. The basically look more "alive" when no enemies are in range. Follow this link to read the full update.

New chat lobby Game speed options Overhauled Dune 2000 mod Tiberian Dawn mod improvements Red Alert mod improvements Joystick scrolling Units “defend” by default New asset installer Fixes and performance Improved map and mod support You can read more detailed information about these 10 reasons to try this new play test build. 9. For Throwback Thursday this week we look back at the handshake that created the Red Alert universe from Command & Conquer Red Alert in 1996, what other game would it have been. Einstein creates his time machine and goes back in time, making sure Hitler doesn't rise to power. Essentially making him a "friend" rather than a "foe". This causes the Soviets to become the dominate super power. The rest of course, is as they say.... history. Remember, you can click on the preview above to see a larger and more detailed image. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  10. If you have been following the development of OpenRA, you will know that Tiberian Sun is coming to the open source reimplementation of Westwood's classic Command & Conquer games. Progress has been made but the OpenRA team haven't shown to much of it. Until now. As posted on Kotaku Australia yesterday, SoScared101 on YouTube discovered a work-in-progress version of Tiberian Sun in a developer's build of OpenRA, and of course it's now captured in the video above for all to see. We are not sure if the OpenRA developers want the public to see all this yet but its still pretty damn cool anyway.
  11. Basically black is worn by all sports teams and/or individuals representing New Zealand. Hence the name All Blacks for our rugby team. The exception is our soccer team, they use a white strip, so they are called the All Whites. More info here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sport_in_New_Zealand#National_team_names
  12. The Renegade X team have successfully released another important patch. Beta 5 Patch 5.004/Build 5F features a mammoth amount of changes and fixes. One of the highlights is day/night versions of Mesa, Field and Canyon maps have been added. The full change list can be found right here. To get this update simply start the Renegade X Launcher and it should download and install the patch for you. If doesn't, just head over to the Renegade X site for the download.
  13. Multiplayer Forums have announced that public testing for Tiberium Crystal War 2.0, a standalone mod for C&C Renegade that is set in the Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars era, is now open. You can download the client and join the test server. Keep in mind, it is not 100% complete and bugs will be present. After all, that's what testing is for. If you're interested in trying out Tiberium Crystal War 2.0 for yourself, check out this topic posted on our forums.
  14. Finally the tournament comes to end. 7 damn weeks of Rugby, Rugby, Rugby, Rugby. As good as the All Blacks are I'm sick and tired of hearing about and seeing their every move reported on. It just an over-saturation of coverage here in New Zealand. With that said, I did watch the game. It was ok. The best team won but the Aussies played well.
  15. Throwback Thursday for this week ties in with our site celebrating 18 years online. The origins of our site date back to 1997, but our CNCNZ.com identity came a few years later. So today we are looking back at the first version of what was then called "CNCNZ" or "Command & Conquer NZ" in 1999. This was life before the dot com got added, in early 2000 we officially became "CNCNZ.com", and its been that way ever since. And you can see this is also where the traditional blue colour theme came from. If you would like to see past designs of the site you can see them all in this gallery on our Facebook page. Remember, you can click on the preview above to see a larger and more detailed image. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.

    Upgraded to VDSL

Recently switched my Broadband internet from ADSL 2+ to the newer VDSL. Free install and same cost per month. Seemed like a good deal to me Connections speeds are great, and the service person who did the install said it will probably get faster over the next 5-7 days, no idea how that works. VDSL Speeds (ASDL 2+ speed in brackets) Downstream - 43 Mbps ( 20 Mbps) Upstream - 10 Mbps (1 Mbps) Overall, I'm happy

    Upgraded to VDSL

Currently in the process of having Ultra-Fast Fibre broadband installed, upgrading to a 100Mbps down/20Mbps up with unlimited data . It should be up and running early next week. Anyway, I recently installed a new Huawei HG659b modem, replacing the old Technicolor modem I had. And just yesterday I noticed some extreme sync speeds from my current VDSL connection.... Just look at those upstream and downstream rates. A test from Speedtest.net shows.... I wasn't aware that VDSL was capable to such high sync rates.
  19. I don't normally reply in news topics but I'll make an exception this one and only time. You can find out how the site used to look by checking out the History page found here http://www.cncnz.com/site-info/history/, its somewhat out of date though. There are also more screenshots of the past designs here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150873061922671.409637.87374627670&type=1&l=06089ec8e6.
  20. Its time for another edition of Throwback Thursday. This week its back to 1995 and the original Command & Conquer. We are taking a look at Greg Burdette, the WWN reporter, who did live reports from various locations during the campaign. All of his reports portrayed the Global Defense Initiative in a negative way, mostly to sway the public opinion and make the Global Defense Initiative look like the bad guys. As it turns out, Greg Burdette was really being manipulated by Brotherhood of Nod. And all of his reports were fabricated and essentially produced and directed by Kane himself. Remember, you can click on the preview above to see a larger and more detailed image. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.

30 years of Back To The Future

I would hate see any remakes of the Back to Future movies. Just leave them as they are. If they ever try to remake them you know they won't have the same magic. Just reminded of Christopher Lloyd’s cameo in A Million Ways to Die in the West, with a Delorean
  22. Just a quick reminder that Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge is still available for free as part of Origin's On the House promotion. All you need is an EA account, the Origin client installed on your computer, and it's yours to download for free. From what I understand it will still be available until sometime around early December. So it looks you will have plenty of time to claim your free copy of Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge now. And then when you're ready, you can also jump online and play multiplayer thanks to the great team at CnCNet.
  23. So it looks like the limited time free release of Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge on Origin's On the House promotion caught on so fast and became so popular it brought EA's Origin servers to total stand still. Almost to the point of melting down, ok maybe not that far. If you follow that link above you are given this message. Perhaps EA underestimated the popularity of Command & Conquer games once again. And maybe this will send them a message that fans still care about the franchise. In the mean time, Theme Hospital is available for free On the House. And just as it says in the quoted text, Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge will be back soon.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Oddly, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is not shown at all in this poster. Unless he is the one behind the mask? Let the speculation begin!
  25. It would appear that the official forums for Tiberium Alliances are currently off-line. And from reports we have received, they have been inaccessible since this past weekend. There is no error message from the forums when you attempt to visit them, just a blank page. The Tiberium Alliances official site is up and running though. We have not heard anything from EA or Envision Entertainment about the out of action forums. Back in January this year, the Tiberium Alliances forums basically became the official forums for everything Command & Conquer when EA made changes to the Official Command & Conquer Site. As it stands now, there are no official forums. An update will be posted if and when they return.
