Need Help Games Crash Using C&C ZH Enhanced Mod
Sonic replied to Replay1452's topic in Generals / Zero Hour
Can you successfully run Zero Hour without this mod or any mods installed? -
I've been thinking about adding a Solid State hard drive to my current system. I considered a big upgrade of all major components but since I don't play games on PC any more I think it would be a waste of money. But I would like to improve performance so a Solid State hard drive should be great. I'm looking at the Samsung 840 Evo Series MZ-7TE120BW Solid State Drive, 2.5", 120GB - https://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=417348 The plan it to set this up as the primary drive, installing Windows 8.1 on it, my current Western Digital 640 GB hard drive will become secondary drive for storage. The only part that concerns me is the interface for the SSD. The drive it self says its "SATA 6 Gb/s", the specifications for my motherboard says I have "6 xSATA 3 Gb/s ports". Does that mean I can't use this Samsung SSD with my motherboard? All of the brand and types of Solid State hard drives I see available are all "SATA 6 Gb/s". So I'm kind of confused. Current system: CPU: Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo @ 3.0 GHz Motherboard: ASUS P5QL-E RAM: 4 GB GSkill DDR2800 Dual Channel Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 Ti HDD: Western Digital 640 GB SATA2 & External eSATA Seagate Barracuda 320GB SATA2 ODD: LG DVD/RW with Lightscribe PSU: 500w Silverstone Display: ViewSonic VA2448/m 24" LED LCD (1920 x 1080 Widescreen) OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1

The Halloween 2014 release of OpenRA is now available for download. It is overflowing with both tricks and treats! This release includes over 760 commits by 41 contributors since the July release. The most visible change in this release is the redesigned in-game UI. The RA mod has received a brand new sidebar. Improved keyboard shortcut configuration, with new defaults based on Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 3. The in-game menu has been completely overhauled, and now includes information on mission objectives. A new end-game score screen appears once a game is complete. The other big focus of this release was a complete overhaul of the map scripting support for creating single-player missions and multi-player minigames. The new Lua API is faster, more robust, and provides many new features that were not available in the older API (which has now been removed). A large number of smaller features have also been included. This is just a sample from the full changelog.... The lobby now prevents players from choosing “cheating” colors that are too similar to the terrain. Veteran units gain improved reload time and accuracy, and elite units will now heal over time. Planes will maintain their distance from each other in a similar fashion to helicopters. Servers will now drop players with unresponsive connections to unfreeze stalled games. Units will now properly move inside transports, instead of teleporting. Tank turrets will now turn to face forward after the unit has finished attacking. A number of small balance changes to the Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn mods. Many more small bug-fixes and behaviour improvements. Visit the OpenRA site to download the new release.

On this day, 14 years ago, Westwood Studios released Command & Conquer Red Alert 2. A worthy follow up after Tiberian Sun and arguably the most popular of all the Command & Conquer games released over the years. Most fans would agree that entire franchise, from a storyline perspective, got messed up since Red Alert 2 was made by Westwood Pacific (later to be named EA Pacific), the same team who went on to make C&C Generals. While it was a sequel to Red Alert, it could not be considered a direct sequel in terms of continuing a story. It really was a entirely new alternate Red Alert universe. What do you remember the most about Red Alert 2? Share your Red Alert 2 memories, greatest online battles and even favourites parts from the single player campaigns with us in this news thread.

October is definitely "Red October". Did you know that four of the five Red Alert games that have been made were released during the month of October? The original Red Alert on 31/10/1996, Red Alert 2 on 26/10/2000, Yuri’s Revenge on 12/10/2001, Red Alert 3 on 28/10/2008 (US) and 30/10/2008 (EU). The exception is of course Red Alert 3: Uprising, that was released in March 2009. For this update we are here to recognise the 6th anniversary of Red Alert 3. There was a big 7 year gap between Red Alert 2 and Red Alert 3, when EA announced the game the community was excited, but many were sceptical about what the EALA team could deliver. EA poured a lot into the development of this game, revealing an all star live action cast, and don't forget the massive marketing campaigns. Bringing back Frank Klepacki to work on the soundtrack was something that felt truly special for all C&C fans. They even got me on a plane to fly over to Los Angeles, visit EALA and play test an alpha build during the Red Alert 3 Community Summit in June 2008. So here we are 6 years later. We can look back on Red Alert 3 as quality Command & Conquer game, high production values, staying true to what Westwood Pacific established in Red Alert 2. However it didn't reach the lofty heights EA expected it would. But how can you not like Red Alert 3 anyway, it gave us this awesome remix..... What are your memories and favourite moments of Red Alert 3? Please share them with us in this news thread.

Public Beta 5.037 of the Twisted Insurrection mod for Tiberian Sun is now available via the Twisted Insurrection client. This update fixes lots of bugs in the campaign missions, adds new features to many others and adds a new mission to the GDI campaign which takes place in between GDI Mission 3 and 4. This means that GDI Mission 3 and 4 have also been updated to compensate for the new mission scenario. There is some important information about this new release that should be read as well. Visit the Twisted Insurrection site for more details and the download.

This topic is rather old now Zunnie, and way out of date. It probably shouldn't even be pinned at the top of the Renegade forum any more.

Sounds very ambitious, but good luck with your project. CNCNZ.com is here to help with any promotion and news you may want us to cover. For the record Westwood never called Renegade 2 "Battle Grounds" or "Battlegrounds". The name "Battlegrounds" was actually used when C&C Renegade was first pitched to EA, but EA was quick to shoot it down. Renegade was also called for C&C Commando for the early part of it's development, it was later changed to Renegade of course. I recommend you watch these 3 videos with Louis Castle discussing the history of C&C at Westwood from CommandCom 2009 http://www.cncnz.com/features/other-specials/commandcom-2009-louis-castle-presentation-history-of-command-conquer/

Sonic posted a topic in Command & Conquer News
WatchMojo.com have been posting Top 10 videos for a long time now, spanning many categories. One of the latest is their "Top 10 Video Game Armies", and Command & Conquer's Brotherhood of Nod is included. I won't say what position it comes in though, you'll just have the watch the video below to find out. Another good one to watch is their , and once again Command & Conquer gets a mention. -
I saw this on Kotaku about a new game called Hatred from a Polish development team called Destructive Creations. Watch the trailer below. Warning: it's exceedingly graphic and depicts the slaughter of horrified people who scream and plead for their lives. Give the article at Kotaku a read, it rather interesting in the comparisons with other games like GTA V http://kotaku.com/the-kind-of-video-game-violence-that-disturbs-me-1647874540

Looks like they made a new version of the trailer. I updated the original post above. This is what they said about the updated trailer.... I also found this article interesting to read, basically accussing members of dev team of being "Neo Nazis" http://gamepolitics.com/2014/10/20/hatred-developer-creative-destruction-denies-accusations-some-studio-members-are-neo-nazi

Following the release of last week’s playtest version of OpenRA, a third and final playtest has been made available today in preparation for the stable Halloween release next weekend. Development over the last week has been focused on tidying up loose ends, such as.... An overhauled observer/replay sidebar for the Red Alert mod. An improved (and hopefully more robust) crash-detection mechanism. Improved memory usage over the previous playtests. Further improvements to the new Lua API, and the removal of the old API. Further improvements to the packaged single-player missions. Additional minor polish improvements and bug fixes. Visit the OpenRA for the download.

Generals: Zero Hour - Game Detected Mismatch
Sonic replied to caio2211's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
This discussion has been split from the very old thread that it was originally started in. It is best to start a new topic rather than resurrecting an old one. -
Been playing Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Its more of the same from Borderlands 2 but there many new gamplay features and some new elemental weapons. The gravity effects on the moon makes for some interesting gameplay actually. Oh yeah, since the game was developed by 2K Australia its loaded with lots of Aussie culture references, jokes and accents.
-
Yeah I probably will. I think some of them are already in our gallery here so I'll have to check them to make sure there are no double ups.
-
Oops, missed those ones. All fixed now.

Mark Skaggs Offers to Support C&C Generals Modders
Sonic replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
He hasn't clarified if he wants to start a new mod project from scratch or join an existing one. He's probably been flooded with offers from everywhere anyway. -
A new promotional teaser for the Mental Omega APYR mod for Yuri's Revenge has been posted. Development continues on the next big version. The team are still alive, still designing. And they want you to #ControlMOre. Visit the Mental Omega APYR site for more.
