I want me a Renegade

Come on, wouldn't everything just be SO much better if there was another first person shooter?

Hell, even an RPG would be interesting if it was C&C themed.

What say you?

Also, 1st.

I'd like RA4 or, like many fans on the official forums, C&C 4: Good Edition. :P

Maybe an HD remake of C&C 1?

(Generals 2 would be a fail just as epic as C&C 4)

Well one thing is for sure this new C&C won't be an FPS. The new Victory Games studio was created to be EA's RTS games division. If EA ever explore the possibility of a new C&C FPS it would probably be done by the Danger Close team, but they have confirmed a Medal of Hour sequel is their next game.

A whole new, deep and sci-fi themed story for C&C would be most interesting to me.

Another Generals could be nice at this point... though that universe really doesn't have any depth at all, storyline-wise. I really play games for the single player story, and while Generals was a pretty nice game, it was really lacking in that aspect. And it started C&C's trend towards "gold mines" rather than wild growing resources, which continued in C&C3 and RA3. I really want a more uncontrolled resource again.

I'd love another Dune RTS, but I doubt we'll ever get that :P

I'm down for another Gens.

Since no FPS, this.

Yeah, but the Generals Challenge in ZH more than made up for that. Though really, if you think about it, Generals and ZH could have been so much more.

Yeah, but I suppose this system did sort of fit for Generals.

This above all :P

That didn't stop them in RA1 or RA2 :P

I believe he means mines spewing ore all over the ground where it grew like alien crystals to be collected by harvesters made no sense, but they did it anyway.

If you're looking for a series that makes sense, I think C&C isn't your series to begin with.

But I thought the "controlled resource" like "gold mines", was more a reference to WarCraft, where all the resources are in one place. A resource management system which was more or less used in Generals and to some extent in RA3.

But no one here is.

The "controlled" resources of Gen/TW/RA3 were more realistic (and boring).

The "uncontrolled" resources of TD/RA/TS/RA2 were less realistic (but fun).

I want a brand new IP. C&C needs something new. GDI, Nod, Tiberium, the Allies, Soviets, ore and everything C&C right now is dead, old and boring. If it's yet another Tiberium game, I'm going to be very, very disappointed. An FPS would be acceptable if it's Red Alert or Generals.

Bottom line, no more ****ing Tib.

I think what is crushing me at the moment is no Joe Koo-Kain [sic Machinima] in the next game... but wouldn't a cameo appearance in the final cut scene to tie in Generals 2 or any other game just be the ants pants.

I say Generals 2. Pretty soon, it will be Generals 2 vs. End of Nations. I still think that C&C Generals imo is somewhat a Modern Warfare RTS type of game. As for a Call of Duty RTS, that's Company of Heroes and World in Conflict.

If they even go for a Generals 2, why use that name? There's no story to continue from. Something New is what we need, no more effing 2's 3's and 4's!

I agree completely, but I don't think that's what Nyer meant, looking at the following quote.

To be honest, I think the only uncontrolled resource he's talking about is the one in TD, where Tiberium can grow without trees/ore mines and the like.

Ore and Tiberium could grow in all those games, although by RA2, the grow rate is so low, its nearly negligible.

In C&C3 they limited it to these small fields. That bothered me a LOT.

Same here. To me with C&C 3, it was hard to imagine that Tiberium is a mysterious material of extraterrestrial origins that acts, evolves and spread with complexity.

Meh. The science behind it didn't bother me much. Basically it went from fast-growing small pods to very slowly growing, very large pods which regrew their crystals very fast. Every "field" was basically just one large pod.

But as gameplay mechanic it meant tiberium didn't spread beyond these areas, and any tiberium that existed on a map outside these areas wouldn't grow or spread. That was just stupid.

There are a lot of features like the tiberium example above companys just havent been able to impliment properly at all.

When you played a 2D RTS game almost every one was different in some aspect and each had it unique logics and ways of making the world apear alive within the limits of the colour pallets and sprites. A lot of logics just arent implimented in 3D RTS games and therfor they feel less unique or individual and they dont feel real. thats one of my critisisms of lots of RTS and RTT games. If you must have a city then where are its citizens, where are the little bits of detail which make it look lived in.

##

as for a new game

If its a Tib RTS i want a reboot bck to the base building days (would prefer they eft it for dead for a few years)

as for remakes if they could do a HD 3D version of TS...

If its RA4 id argue its to soon, and they would be hard pushed to make it better than 3

If its gen id like to see it with the same feel but with better graphics (perhaps slightly cartoony but no where near RA2/3)

If its a MMO i thing generals could possibly be a good setting, that or tib

If its a FPS id like to see a Tib shooter which sticks to the cannon (Tiberium never looked as it fitted properly)

If its something new i welcome it and hope its good.

HD remakes are for modders, it would be stupid if they made an official remake. They'd probably screw it up anyway.

Many developers make HD remakes. Look at the first two Monkey Island games and the first two Serious Sam games. Basically the same thing, but with much better graphics and compatibility (MI and MI2 special editions even have the button which switches between the new and old looks!)

I wouldn't mind an HD remake. As long as you can feel it's that game, without messing up the gameplay too much and with a complete copy of the storyline (maybe with more in-between missions, just to add something new)

I don't care what Monkey Island and Serious Sam got, we have a flourishing C&C modding community tossing out remakes for everything under the sun on every engine.

EA can't be trusted to maintain canon, we already know this. If remakes are to be made, let the fans do it.
