BigPoppaBear 0 Posted June 29, 2004 So I come home from my staff night out at half four in the morning, and I'm wired from all the Coke I had in my double Southern Comforts. I can't sleep, I'm a caffiene warehouse. So I crawl over to my PlayStation2, and I look through all my old PSone games. Something catches my eye. Why, it's the original C&C! Now, at first I had my doubts - it's a classic PC game, and was never really meant for the PS. Additionally, a few weeks ago, I'd played my copy of "Alerte Rouge" (a long story which will no doubt be explained at some point) and been bitterly disappointed by the poor conversion. But I've never known the art that was C&C on the computer, only on PlayStation. And my god, it f*****g rocks. Let's take a step back from the graphics, this game was dated 1995, so we're not expecting breathtaking art as the Ion Cannon shatters a turret, or brilliant, awe-inspiring flames as the Airstrike is delivered. What is amazing, is the rest of the game. The CGI videos, the mission structure, the co-relation of forces - aaaah, damn good stuff. I could go on and on and on about all the stuff I loved about the game that started it all, but I thought I would open up this topic for everyone to discuss what they loved most about the masterpiece that started it all. Luk3us 63 Posted July 9, 2004 My eyes were opened to the Brotherhood of Nod.... I liked the storyline best of all. It was really awesome. The cut scenes were cool. Plus the little animations ya got treated to after you won or lost the mission. Long live Kane. Share this post Link to post
Gazdude 0 Posted July 10, 2004 Nod's units (much like Nod) sucked...... The Med. Tank, MLRS and Mammoth are the best.... Share this post Link to post
General immeyourenot 0 Posted July 10, 2004 LMMFAO, im agreeing with luk3us! OMFG! I never thought it would happen. NOD kicks @$$! I voted for the flame tank for the best unit, because, along with the increadible SSM launcher, it is. I got C&C95, in, 1995, but it took me the best part of 2months to complete, because it is by far the hardest C&C game to date! If only more games were like this, the world would be a happier place. LONG LIVE C&C 95! Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted July 10, 2004 Nod's units (much like Nod) sucked...... Lets stop the whole What side is better discussion now, Cause NOD OWNS all anwyay..... Before it gets out of hand. Share this post Link to post
General immeyourenot 0 Posted July 10, 2004 We are here to honour C&C95, just because Nod is better than GDI is irelevant Share this post Link to post
Cyborg_Commando 0 Posted August 30, 2004 too bad the choices do not include the arillery unit from TS  but the flame thank isn't too bad either, just look at the way you can pulverize infantry units and buildings and in combination with light tanks they can cause a serious threat to enemy thanks Share this post Link to post
Sheepe 0 Posted August 31, 2004 hmmm.... lets see.... Orca and Mammoth Own! (I have a less than healthy obsession with both... its receded though). Actually my fav unit is most likely the.... grenider. simply because they go boom! -Sheepe Share this post Link to post

If only more games were like this, the world would be a happier place. LONG LIVE C&C 95! That is impossible. C&C95 is C&C Gold, the Win95 remake of C&C. It was released in '98  If you got the game in 1995 you must've bought the DOS version Stop referring to Command & Conquer as "C&C95" dammit :x ----------- eheh, quite a first post I got there  Hi, I'm Nyerguds, C&C1 expert and C&C1 mod and mission maker. Oh... and the Frank Klepacki as The Commando pwnz all 8) Share this post Link to post

Mina Synd 0 Posted April 23, 2005 i actually got C&C: RA: Retaliation before i got C&C lolol... then i got the first (both PS1) and it was along the lines of "woaaahhh... trippy... funny army people... good plot... darned hard and an irritating commando mission... @_@" lol so now i have every single version and the worldwide warfare thing (if that's what it's called) the one with C&C, RA, and all the various extra missions/upgrade discs o.o Share this post Link to post
Waraddict 0 Posted April 24, 2005 For me, C&C was a game which gave amazingly equal attention and high quality to each aspect of the game, course back then graphics like C&C were pretty good but even to today's standards C&C still beats modern games in other areas. I mean, look at the mission selecting, they even went out of the way to provide country statistics, all this stuff that could be perceived as useless really added to the atmosphere and overall quality of the game, it's amazing how much spirit they put into the thing, specially since it was only their second RTS game. Even if you look at Dune 2, you cannot help but wonder what on earth inspired them to do C&C, it's such a large leap, kick ass music, acted scenes, mission selecting, Westwood in my opinion came closer then any other company at making the perfect game. Even Red Alert, though not terribly more advanced then C&C, was an amazing product, it was the only follow up in a game series which I felt learned from its predessesor and yet still managed to expand on the game and be original itself to a degree. after that however, it went downhill, we never had such attentively created games since those two. AJihadOrange 0 Posted May 30, 2005 We can't forget the pace of the original C&C and the fact that you actually had expendable troops. I mean, you could get a base and army up in what? like minutes? That, then you could lose it and make another attack in seconds if your economy was good enough. What ever happened to that? Generals is a damn joke, it's all about money, saving money, getting money, fighting over... oil derricks. The reason it's such a big deal is because even infantry are expensive as hell. like 300 for basic infantry. I don't know if it's to add realism or defeat the whole "expendable troops" thing, but I do believe it killed the game. Share this post Link to post
chickendippers 1 Posted May 31, 2005 That's exactly why Generals isn't Command & Conquer Share this post Link to post
Mr_Lee_ 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Generals was command and conquer...it was just a harsh mutant baby of the EA side of C&C. Share this post Link to post
Guest MadBadger Posted June 16, 2005 woooh back up back up you say defeat the whole "expendable troops" thing so the troops in generals ARNT expendable?........... well no one told me damn it i just played a game a while bac where all i did was make red guard...... your telling me there not expendabe? i lost over 3000 units all deff red guard whats expeneble in your books? i call red guard damn cannon fodder. but there is too much focus on money. p.s what about the damn missile subs those babys own damn it.
