Sonic 295 Posted November 3, 2011 I don't get over to the Official C&C Forums as often as I should. But I do follow what EA_CIRE, C&C Community Manager, posts. Recently there has been a few threads pop up on the official forums where fans have expressed and vented their frustrations about the lack of news regarding the next Command & Conquer, and how silent things have been from the team at Victory Games. While many fans want news now, the longer we wait the better things will be. Victory Games is getting exactly what the previous development didn't get, more time to work on the game, rather than trying to make one in 7 to 9 month time frame. And this post by EA_CIRE on the Official C&C Forums reaffirms this.... But yes, the developer team is still alive and we're making some good progress on the next C&C. Everybody who saw our game so far was really happy with it. Victory Games is going forward strong and it all takes longer as you’ve experienced it in the past because of a major reason - We don't want to rush a game out. We want to deliver an AAA (high quality) RTS game because the C&C franchises and the community deserves it. The down side is the longer time it takes for us to develop the game, but it will pay off for you all once you can join the battle with our new C&C game. The reason for being so silent on the forums here was my relocation to LA a couple of weeks ago, which took a lot more time as expected. The other major reason is the kind of work I am doing mostly right now – Trying to influence the game development as much as possible to create a future game environment that will work as a new fundamental for growing the C&C community to a new level in terms of activity, strength and functionality. All that comes with a lot of internal work and fighting that takes place behind the scene. Keep the heads up, the new C&C is coming and it will be something we don’t have to be ashamed of! This is by no means to say the likes of C&C 3, Red Alert 3 or C&C 4 were bad games, well maybe C&C 4 was, but the development team at the time did the best they could do in the limited time they had. The 2006 to 2010 era was great one for C&C! So all the C&C Community has to do is be patient and wait for the next one to start. Click here for the original post. Share this post Link to post

Doctor Destiny 41 Posted November 3, 2011 The fans can get tired of waiting. Nobody should give a **** if they do. They'll all coming running back when a new game comes out anyway. 1 Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted November 3, 2011 I think people often forget it takes at least 2 years to develop a game, and that's generally if they have an existing in house or 3rd party engine to build upon. If we're looking at starting with a new Engine (which is more than likely)... I'll probably say 3 years minimal. This time of year, 2013. I wouldn't expect anything before then. I do like the fact that EA are looking at pumping serious cash behind their big, long standing franchise titles. This is why Syndicate has appeared again. The company's direction is being bold, but clear. They read them saying something about "...Wanting to bring back our classic franchises that everyone loves and give it a solid 'Back to roots' gameplay, whilst adding only the more modern improvements that make our games a success..." This is why Battlefield 3... whilst feeling similar to Bad Company 2, has that classic feel with large maps, jets, and all the great things that Battlefield 2 had. Plus this is why ' Back to Karkand' is such an important expansion.... Expect a similar mentality with C&C.... They'll probably get this one right... And give the franchise a new story arc that'll drive things forward. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted November 4, 2011 (edited) I thought the official C&C announcement at the end of this year is going to happen. Instead, now I am thinking next year. Still no sign of C&C Generals 2..... EA mentioned about that in 2008 and I hope that development carries out until today. Edited November 4, 2011 by zocom7 Share this post Link to post
Lauren 78 Posted November 4, 2011 Announcing and announcement is kinda pointless oO There are still 2 months to go. Share this post Link to post
AlexB 8 Posted November 4, 2011 DNF took forever, so it must be good -- at least that's what everybody thought. TS development took longer than expected and there was much hype that time also. Too bad longer waiting does not equal a better game automatically... Always pointing out the next C&C will be an "AAA" game doesn't help there. The longer EA is waiting the more time some fans will have to use their vivid imagination to hear what they want to hear. In a recently published interview on a german site EA_CIRE was asked bluntly about the next C&C. The answer was obviously tongue in the cheek, saying the next game "C&C Flamewars" will be announced 11-11-2011 at 11:11am, and it will feature a new Voxel 4D engine. Another site already reposted it as if it was a real announcement. Now there's also discussion on which racing game or shooter engine Victory Games should pick, if they don't create a completely new engine. SAGE has to be exchanged, because SAGE is the main reason the latest C&Cs weren't successful and TT was panned by the media. Yeah, that's the reason... I think Doctor Destiny is right. The fans can stomp on the ground with their feet or start a petition or whatever; they will come back as soon as the game is announced. Share this post Link to post
Plok 327 Posted November 4, 2011 SAGE has to be exchanged, because SAGE is the main reason the latest C&Cs weren't successful and TT was panned by the media. Yeah, that's the reason... No. C&C 3 and RA3 were flamed by whiners crying for Westwood. C&C 4 was panned by everyone who is sane. 2 Share this post Link to post
Lauren 78 Posted November 4, 2011 Fully agree with Plokite, TW was a great game but some obvious bugs and balance flaws, but nothing SAGE itself couldn't handle. All that SAGE is bad talking is pointless as the engine was in fact one of the best in 2007/2008, it's just that the short development time caused them to create a huge amounts of bugs. AlexB 8 Posted November 4, 2011 Just want to make clear that the paragraph isn't saying what I'm thinking, but it is what is discussed by some fans. A game engine has to support what the game designers want, and if a certain feature isn't available, it most likely wasn't in the game spec. The engine follows the requirements. I liked General's SAGE and the gritty feeling of TW. If EA reveals too early, people would see unfinished and imperfect stuff. It's hard to revise the first impression later on. If they reveal the story too soon, it's old when the game's released -- they would have less new surprising material to advertise the game when they go gold. Wouldn't be a good idea to spill the beans just yet. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted November 5, 2011 No. C&C 3 and RA3 were flamed by whiners crying for Westwood. C&C 4 was panned by everyone who is sane. Been a long time since I've seen anything this apt said about C&C. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted November 5, 2011 DNF took forever, so it must be good -- at least that's what everybody thought. I think this comparison is a bit weird considering the history of DNF's development but your post's overall point is valid. People can get all bent out of shape about waiting all they want. With C&C4, my standards and expectations are pretty damn low. If the next C&C even is a somewhat "okay" title, I'll still be impressed myself. I'm willing to wait for a good C&C game, to be sure. Banshee 28 Posted November 5, 2011 The title caption - what's new there? EA_CIRE says C&C is not dead and nothing else - what's new there? Nothing new. The official C&C site already announced before that Victory Games is working on a new C&C game for some time. They've made a Community Developer Area in the forums, polls on favourite game, maps, a survey on soundtrack... so, yea, nothing new. The fans can get tired of waiting. Nobody should give a **** if they do. They'll all coming running back when a new game comes out anyway. Agreed. If they listen to everything fans says, there will be no game at all . I think people often forget it takes at least 2 years to develop a game, and that's generally if they have an existing in house or 3rd party engine to build upon. If we're looking at starting with a new Engine (which is more than likely)... I'll probably say 3 years minimal. This time of year, 2013. I wouldn't expect anything before then. And give the franchise a new story arc that'll drive things forward. Yea, and in C&C's case, the new game will be another tiberium game. Do you know why? If you take the music survey, you'll notice that they only mention the musics from the tiberium universe. So, don't be surprised if the next C&C go back to roots in terms of gameplay as well. I just don't know if they'll continue the storyline or return to the first tiberian war in order to follow the EA directives that is in bold in your text. The previously 'leaked artistic' work on this game reminded the Tiberian Dawn universe. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) Eh, I hope they do Generals universe rather than the other two; after so many games the others have gotten repetitive. Edited November 6, 2011 by F15pilotX Share this post Link to post

Luk3us 63 Posted November 6, 2011 Fortunately there are many other projects and games that can hold my interest until EA decide to begin with the marketing campaign. That being said after C&C4 I'll be far more sceptical of anything out of EA... Share this post Link to post
Banshee 28 Posted November 6, 2011 What previously leaked artistic work? It was in the site of some artist (that I don't remember anymore) over one year ago about a potential new C&C game. Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted November 6, 2011 Damn it! *referring to the fans* Ask the C&C fans to STFU and let the devs do a proper job with sufficient ample time to make a new title. If the fans ain't happy whatsoever, ask them to play something else or play with themselves in the toilets or something. Sheesh. Why is it always that the C&C fans consist a main bulk of immature kiddos? I hope the next title attracts a better class of audiences. 1 Share this post Link to post

klandri 2 Posted November 6, 2011 I'll say like I (and several others) said on the official forums. An announcement has nothing to do with the development cycle or the release date. I agree that patience is a virtue but nevertheless people should take into account that most of the whine threads are asking for an announcement not a release date. Share this post Link to post
