CNCNZ.com Poll: The Next Command & Conquer Game

Recommended Posts

It's new year, a new month, so it's time for a new poll. This is actually the first official poll since changing over to the new look for the site. The question for the poll is When do you think a new C&C game will be announced? Will it be early in this new year, around the middle, or sometime towards the end of the year. Another option is 2015 or later. To vote in this poll you need to be on the main page of our site, and cast your vote in the poll box on the right side bar. You can also check the the current results in the Poll Archives. And, as always, don't forget to share any feedback or comments about this poll as well.

Since we are on the subject of polls here I need to mention a few things. This is a new poll system for CNCNZ.com and we have been unable to transfer the archived polls from the old system. However the new poll system works great, displays the results without reloading the entire page and features powerful archiving options. So as time goes by, and more polls are run, you will see the benefits of it.

If there is a new studio working on C&C, they might show something around the middle of the year just so we know something's breathing out there. If not, then 2015 might even be a generous forecast.

I hope I'm wrong, but I honestly feel like "never" is a possibility.

I am about to agree with this statement. If C&C is dead, C&C goes straight to the archives and be abandoned.

The old Brett Sperry, Frank Klepacki and Joe Kucan days are over...... :(

I'd like to see what happens. It won't be like the old games, but that was assured when the team fragmented over 10 years ago. I liked what Generals added to the mix, so I'd also like to see what else could be added. And I still want another shooter in the C&C universe....

I thought about including that but I felt it was to negative to use as a voting option.

Can we have an option that is "When it is sold to another developer?"

Hey, a guy can dream. :)

I think it is a realistic option.

That's never going to happen.

Realistic or negative.... take your pick, it won't be an option. I made a decision a long time ago to cover the franchise in a positive manner. We are a "fan" site, not an "anti-fan" site

Fair enough; it's your call.

Never say never Sonic, you might never know what the future has in store for us.

If we're lucky, EA will pull a THQ on us and there'd be an Intellectual Property auction. Besides that, it seems EA is constantly shifting more and more towards the casua market. If the higherups deem Command and Conquer to be a worthless title, they might just cash in that chip and cut their losses.

Just my two cents.

They've either given it to a new studio, or they're putting it on the backburner. If the former, I'd expect to hear from them in Q4 2014. If the latter, I don't expect anything this year and perhaps next year too.

Just so no one jumps to silly conclusions. If the franchise has been moved to a new studio it will still be within EA.

Only two people in this forum did not like this poll without the last option but I have no opinion on this poll. Come on, guys, give Sonic a break.

Also I agree with [NE]Fobby[GEN]'s statement on this issue.

how many more times we have to do this, one after the other with hollow hope... yes, this is where fan hang out, but don't you guys realize that with EA, the franchise dead man??!! the only thing that we can look forward to is hopefully there would be more and better quality mod. just like many Bullfrog good old title, they all now entomb in EA cryo tube, unless EA break, or else...

I will admit the future looks bleak but I don't think we should just give up on it. I get the feeling that EA think this way to. So I'm staying positive and hoping for some sort of announcement, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I don't want to speak in negative way about the former Victory Games team because I always felt they were on the right track but it was taking a long damn to get anywhere. If you sit back and think about it for awhile, after 3 long years of development, an announcement of Generals 2, then a re-announcement of the free to play C&C platform/live service, all they managed to get to was a playable but horribly broken alpha build. Long story short, Victory Games were not producing anything of what really counts long term.... Profit! The EA execs (as much as we despise them) probably grew tired of this and not seeing anything for the foreseeable future, the plug was pulled.

From what I've heard, and many of you have probably seen similar stories, the only reason they went to F2P model was keep working on the game. Victory Games were given an ultimatum, cancel Generals 2 and shut up shop, or come up with something else.

A new C&C games is always good, but there is more to the C&C community than just new games every 8-9 months. Sorry this isn't the Call of Duty franchise with it's copy and pasted soulless games that come out every damn year.

They'll be willing to sell anything only if they crash as badly as THQ did.

According to this logic, nobody here is a fan because they dislike C&C4 to the extent of pounding everyone who says otherwise, roll eyes at the mention of Sam Bass and do not give a **** about Sole Survivor.

I get the feeling that EA think this way to.

Of course, why else would they still support Tiberium Alliances, the game with a more obvious F2P system than what C&C 2013 was ever meant to have? (And why the heck did Phenomic even close, Easy Studios won't do anything Phenomic wasn't capable of?)

They made too many mistakes since day 1, that's what caused their demise.

but there is more to the C&C community than just new games every 8-9 months.

Good thinking, but I believe that too is changing as we speak. Things continue to die in the community, with only 3-4 major mod builds arriving per year and constant drops of interest (though CnCNet seems to be the exception to this rule).

Sorry this isn't the Call of Duty franchise with it's copy and pasted soulless games that come out every damn year.

Don't give 'em any ideas, pls. :scared:

I don't think EA is a good fit for the franchise. C&C just isn't their style, but selling the label wouldn't be their style either.

Were I in their place, I probably would have made the same decision, nevertheless, it still would have been the wrong one. And in this instance, time has certainly proven that. I don't blame them, it is hard to throw away that which you've built up by your own hands, but the right decision would have been ending it then rather than trying to turn the game into the abomination they call free to play.

I do think there is hope. EA has shown that, as hard-headed as they are, they actually do bend to the will of the community when pushed hard enough. After Tiberian Twilight, despite its relatively good sales (which I don't understand to this day, even non-C&C fans hated that game), EA did change their strategy and best of all, increased the development time.

Some people say complaining doesn't accomplish anything, but I believe they are wrong. I think EA can hear us and occasionally even listen.

That being said, I also think there is a possiblity C&C has just entered a state of development hell.

Slap the Command & Conquer name on it, of course it will sell. There are many casual gamers out there who know what Command & Conquer is but they don't religiously follow very bit of news about the franchise. They see the new games on the store shelves and buy it based on past experiences.

i told my self not to reply, but damn i just can't resist this bs. yeap. i know once agian you may even delete my posts because you don't like it, but i dont care i will say what i have to say.

based on the above, if i search back in the forum history when people where saying EXACTLY the same things about Victory games, and that we see this is going nowhere and we are going very very slow, and that they haven't made up their minds yet, and that the managers are gonna probably screw this game once more YOU specially you since you obviously admited that you are running a website Just to say Possitive things You above all where so against us you where attacking with bs excuses any single posts of the rest of the users sharing the same opinion like me, and you where trying to defend, what? this?! and now you are turning jsut like a damn Tree Leaf upside down where ever the wind blows you and say different things just because this game now is over?

can someone change their opinion about a game from White to black? well yes they could but at least they should admit it. Even until now on page 1 you are posting against other users who fill that the poll is not fair, and your reply is actually "its my site and i will run it the way i like it!". and now you are changing again and you are "accusing" Victory games and now you can say publicly your "bad criticism" when everyone was saying that months ago?

for the love of God you have even removed the up-voting and the down-voting system from the forum posts, because your posts was getting dislikes!!!!??? (yeah go ahead and find an other nice excuse for that "upgrade" now plz i am sure you will). It just also happens that this update on the posts voting systems take place NOW? when most of the users disagree with your tone of writing and your attitude against your visitors?

i said many times in the past, a website with only Admins and mods and no Viewers and Fans its not a website, its a personal blog page. So don't call it a Fan website, because true Fans do harsh criticism because they want their game to succeed. Its not always roses and honey! we all have our opinions and we should be free to tell it and talk about it, not because its a negative opinion it has to be "silenced" and attacked and penalized!

and as i said because i am 1000000% sure you will try once more to silence my voice, or give me a PM and a penalty (like i care) with the excuse that this is "off-topic" its NOT! this is about making a guided Poll towards the results you like and you favor! this is about not a FAIR poll!

either you start listen more to your viewers because those are the ones that promote you and bring you traffic, or stop calling it a Fan website and change it to a "Personal C&C Blog".

those are my 2 cents.

p.s don't PM about penalties and the same stuff we talked the other time, you already know my answer.

p.s2 i am not the only one thinking like that, i am just the only one that doesn't care to talk about it.

As for Command & Conquers brand right now, well that's really a sad story. If this franchise is to survive, it needs a new studio with talented people and a heap of dedication, or it will keep its status of being a miserable story about a once great franchise being milked to its bones and left to rot in the basement of an ignorant publisher. Not that there was much left to milk in its recent years anyway.

The franchise never reached its full potential in my opinion.

I hope that all the fantastic stuff we see from the modding community is going to convince the right people that Command & Conquer doesn't deserve a burial yet. :)

Warning: What I'm saying here is nothing more than a rumour.

Honestly, there will be a new Command & Conquer game and it should be Generals 2 and it shouldn't be announced in this year. There is a reason why the official C&C site is staying online, even with no active game. The franchise still sells a lot of games and EA knows that.

The last attempt (Generals 2) has failed for several reasons. The main ones were the bad public response for the monetization from the game (that was totally designed as Free To Play) and the inability of the team behind it to follow the deadlines expected by the EA CEOs. The deadline problem has probably caused the whole team to be fired.

There might be another team working on Generals 2 since november. I won't be surprised if it is from DICE, since they have expertise in Frostbite Engine and that engine will not be abandoned for this project, otherwise absolutely everything will need to be made from scratch. Abandoning Frostbite will go against EA's own software production policies, so it should still use Frostbite. I don't know if they'll either abandon the Free to Play idea or they'll reformulate it. I think that the last option is more probable. In both cases, the game will have to be redesigned in many aspects, which is why it was taken down.

So, yea, don't worry. Command & Conquer will return, but you'll have to get distracted with mods for a while.

Some of us "true fans" actually like C&C F2P so don't presume to speak for all of us. And what dictates a true fan anyway? Is Sonic not a "true fan" because he might have liked Gen 2 or understands the reason why VG got closed? You're as bad as the EA execs, demanding ridiculous things that can't be met.
