Of course the AIDs epidemic will get worse in africa but thatll be mostly due to the large amount of men in africa who rape women of rivial villages or religions knowing that they will give them AIDs. It's not like he orders raids on condom factories.

 

I am pleased that the newly named Benedict XVI has become pope and I hope he continues the work that John Paul II had started.

The church spend too much money on itself (BTW theres a tornado watch were I am) I mean just look at their cathedrals and clothes and whatnot (the sky is turning darker) there are plenty of people who need other things (thunder and lighting starting up) such as food and clothing, and (windy too) the church has all this gold and marble and stuff, yet they preach (raining now) that you should give to the poor. I know they do lots of work to help the needy, but really, do they need all that fancy stuff? I dont think so. (really windy, but no twister yet )

The catholic church does spend hundreds of millions of pounds/dollars on the poor and needy all round the world and you could say the same thing about gold and or valuables about countries that spend more money on cosmetic reserch than they do in medical reserch.

I do not like the Catholic church at all to be totally honest, but its recent moves have really grabbed my interest. There is an evangelistic movement in the church that is awesome to see, and the new Pope is strong proof of this. There may be some hope yet :wink:

The Hitler youth thing was about that the pope when he was a child in germany was in the hitler youth programme just like every other german boy at the time. I wouldnt say that an evangelistic movement is sweeping threw the catholic church since they have always been the core values of the church. But what I can see is evangelists and Neo cons in american working more closing with the catholic church on issues about abortion and gay marragies. Some people wanted a more liberal pope but I think if that did happen then I could see the same same trouble that the anglician church has been going through where it is self-destructing of the debate of gay clergy.

Don't get confused between the dictionary meaning of 'evangelist' and the actual Evangelist religion. Catholicism, atleast when we had Pope John Paul II, doesn't believe Evangelist is a valid Christian religion, and Catholicism is losing ground to Evangelism in Latin America, so they're not likely to work with Evangelists, infact they're probably one of the 'Christian' religions the Pope will not try to improve relations with.

Ignorant people are going to pick alot at this issue, it was compulsory for them to join the Hitler youth, those who apposed it faced possibly death, John Paul II avoided it by luck, Benedict XVI however unfortunately didn't however not even his family were Nazi supporters and he did identify the Nazis as the enemy while being a member of the Hitler Youth, he even considered him as the Anti-Christ. Fact is, almost any German Benedict's age has served in the HY, to assume that they support Hitler is almost racist.

infact they're probably one of the 'Christian' religions the Pope will not try to improve relations with.

 

I dont beleive thats true since the new pope wants to help unite all christians factions and you cant do that by excluding any one.

Due to the ever increasing PC brigade thats getting so bad that they want to ban celebrating christmass and easter since they might offend others I see that the Evangelists Catholoism will come closer and their relationship improved.

o.O; i'm an athist... though i respect other's belief's and gods, and personally believe in leading a nice relatively sin-free life (in the sense of no drinking, no smoking, no doing drugs, not doing anything violent or hurting others. though i can't promise anything on the sex side... although conservative i've got a more interesting track record then most my age)

my theory being thus: if i have a nice, happy life now without causing trouble, i win. if there isn't a god, so be it... i've had a good life. if there is a god, he'll see that compared to a lot of normal people there is nothing wrong with me and i'm a good person, with any luck he'll let me in heaven. either way i've won the first round n.n;

Well actually it can be a little difficult sometimes detecting humour or sarcasm only through text, specially on a contraversial matter.

 

Sorry if it seemed like I was directing the arguement towards you, I meant to merely state that there will be people who will pull the HY issue.
