Atoms. Lots, and lots, and lots of atoms.

They didn't. They were already here. (what, were you assuming I'd say god?)

Chances are, we will discover all this some day. So, just wait.

Two things:

a. How do you know it was 3 or 4 billion years ago???

b. Prove that God wasn't involved.

A) It's called Geology you moron.

B) I shouldn't have to, mainly because all the evidence points to God not being involved anyway.

If there were a deity involved, show me some solid evidence, some hard proof. But seeing as that's impossible, I'm sticking with the Evolution theory.

Actually, lightning is what they believe did start us off (scientist's I mean).

They said, before there was life, a lightning storm caused bolts of electricity that somehow put atoms together and created very simple compounds, and then, eventually it turned into bacteria.

You may want to re-read what I said mate...

And where did the atoms come from???

 If you were paying more attention in your Science classes instead of your Bible Studies classes you would know that Atoms make up -everything-. They didn't come from anywhere, because they have always existed. Don't be so immature.

Actually... I did a few times... and I guess I just misunderstood what you wrote...

and so where did all the matter come from, if not the Big Bang ??

It's assumed that the Big Bang started everything in the known universe. We're talking about the origins of life on Earth mate, not the origins of the universe. :P

I believe I read somewheres that Scienists have one really big issue with evolution

how did life evolve from non-living matter ???

It goes with all the other mysteries of the universe like black holes bending light and dark matter weighing so much. Humans can theorise these things, but really most of science is theory, not fact..

Exactly, which is why, when people start to put forward religious beliefs as plausible theories (and in some cases, facts), some people such as myself become very irritable.

A belief dosen't classify as a theory. But a theory gives us humans an insight as to how things, especially in science, work. This is more sensible to me than someone saying, "God did it."

And the charged particles???

And what's the trigger? An event won't occured without a trigger. A gun won't be fired if there is no trigger. The trigger of universe evolution is God. Because God is the one who create all the rules and methodes of both anorganic and organic evolution.

A belief dosen't classify as a theory. But a theory gives us humans an insight as to how things, especially in science, work. This is more sensible to me than someone saying, "God did it." Rolling Eyes

I don't know much about evolution science, but surely from what I saw in many great scientists, most of them believes in a higher existence who control everything. This universe can't evolute itself without someone controlling it. And please, God didn't made this universe in just a "bang", there is the process, a long process, many evolutions, and it took million of years, which scientist still arguing about.

It goes with all the other mysteries of the universe like black holes bending light and dark matter weighing so much. Humans can theorise these things, but really most of science is theory, not fact..

Correct. All we can do is theorizing about this universe, until we see the truth, which lies in the knowledge of God.

so basically, its kinda like the Matrix. (if your on the side of Bob/God/Allah)

a higher entity controls all the rules and such, and when needed, bends them (miracles)

except (as far as we know) there arent any humans bending the rules as well (except Jesus or Mohamed (excuse me if Im wrong about Mohamed))

Tsk, tsk...

<1> 3/4 billion years ago

Scientists at a lab used modern dating methods on rock from Mt. Saint Helens (a volcanic eruption in 1983) not knowing where it was from, and were 8 BILLION YEARS OFF

So no, I don't give a **it what scientists say about how old anything is

@acerz, what evidence points to God not being involved

anything involving impurities or humans trying ot kill each other in the name of God.

Evolution makes more sense than "boom; here we are." So basically what you're saying is that any non-religious theory should be discarded and tossed aside because it doesn't agree with your one-track thoughts? Oh well' date=' that's the kind of nonsense I've come to expect from people who actually believe in the "almighty creator."[/quote']

I only refers to to the darwin theory, we are not evoluted from monkeys, eventough human and monkey looks alike.

Please don't make false comparisons' date=' kthx. The universe has been around longer than religion can account for. According to religion, the Earth has been in existance for only approximately 6000 years when we know this to very untrue. The Earth is about 4.6 billion years in age. Where did that extra time go? Thinking logically, something religious folks are very scared of, we can assume that life did not begin with humans, thus making Genesis, the very book that explains our creation, 100% FALSE. What I find amusing is that the Bible totally omits dinosaurs and never explains their presence.[/quote']

6000 years??? I don't where did you get that. I never read other holy books other than mine, in mine the evolution of the universe took 6 era, and each era took million years, not 6000 years.

I'd rather see my mother die in peace than live in agony. Yes' date=' it's a very hard decision and it would inevitably bring tears to my eyes but I'd rather her have peace than suffering.[/quote']

For me, a life of single person can affect your whole life. So anyone who is important to me, I will protect him/her.

The robot 'brain' is built like a computer. It' performs tasks in a mundane manner so in effect' date=' it doesn't have free will nor can it think for itself. Robots don't evolve at all; we upgrade them over time as we see fit. Humans, on the other hand, evolved as a result of environmental factors so they could adapt to their surroundings to survive. Evolution is a slow process.[/quote']

One day robot can think by itself, generating it's own codes, like human thinking to find a solution. Upgrading is the same of evolution, for example a software begins with version 1.0.00 when it completed for the first time, then along with time, it reach greater version. In our case, God upgrade us, but we refer it as evolution. You were born as baby and grow into an adult.

By the same token' date=' robots should take the same millions of years to evolve like we did[/quote']

Could be, but robot can't evolve into a human, robot is a robot, just human imperfect creations born for the cause of human.

Well, it's getting hotter here, but I'm glad it's not religion vs religion :)

You contradicted yourself there. The fourth thing you said made the third thing you said kind of screwy.

On another note, why do people believe in god, if god makes it a sin to believe in a false deity?

Think of it. He could be just like someone like stalin, making you believe in HIM and only HIM. He might not be all that great. I mean, someone opposes him one bit, and they go to hell?

See the connection? If you opposed stalin one bit, you were killed!

Stalin and God are two different existence. Stalin is a mere human who have no right to control us because he didnt create us while God create us and so God has the right to do everything to us, but yet God is so kind to us. While for worshipping false deity, it's all God's decision.

See? Even you are god's propaganda.

Hell, I thought that was a nifty comparison, although I'm sure you could compare him to good people too.

No, we don't share 98% of the same DNA that other primates have. Nah, that's just a huge coincidence. Nothing to that, nope.[/sarcasm]

Evolution isn't a speedy process nor does it just magically occur. There are many factors that evolution depends on such as climate, environment, terrain... things of that nature. Living creatures have a tendency to adapt to their surroundings and learn to thrive.

6000 years??? I don't where did you get that. I never read other holy books other than mine, in mine the evolution of the universe took 6 era, and each era took million years, not 6000 years.

That's the approximated time I seem to have from the variations that I have read. Translation is an imperfect science.

A robot has to be given the ability to make his own decisions. Today's robots are not what you see in sci-fi movies. Most of them are immobile assembly line 'workers.' That's hardly the ability to think... ****, that's not even close...

What do human life patterns have to do with robot 'brains'? You really ought to stop with false comparisons.

Could be, but robot can't evolve into a human, robot is a robot, just human imperfect creations born for the cause of human.

The same can be said about human existance as well. We're imperfect creations born for the cause of god. In a literal sense, we're nothing more than god's pawns.

Eight billion? Now who's way off the mark? The Eath hasn't even existed that long.

the sun is like 4-5 billion

the earth isl ike 3.5 billion

now on to religion....a lot of whats in the ancient books is gona be off by a bit/lot because of translations, and before it was put on paper it was passed down as stories.

Not to mention there are still things that happened in the past that we still can not seem to understand, so, what if this is all a big mistake?
