Malevolence 6 Posted January 9, 2011 Played and completed Mafia II. Pretty neat game, the retro 40s 50s music tracks really got into me for quite a while. Damn I wish I have enough $$$ to experience this game in DirectX 11 and multi-displays. Share this post Link to post
rSquar3d 0 Posted January 9, 2011 Whew. You really are a tech nut aren't you? Meh, I'm satisfied with mid-range tech. DX10, just one display, etc... And just enough specs to edit videos well, and also play all of my games at max video and audio settings. Share this post Link to post

The current high end PC setup market is selling DirectX11 GPUs with multi-display setup and 3D surround setup. On second thoughts, not all games I played really demands much on the above mentioned technologies. I'll upgrade when necessary. Share this post Link to post
rSquar3d 0 Posted January 9, 2011 Hahaha! That's how I think. Only buy mid-range, never low, and not high as much as possible. What's the point of an uber-high-end uber-brand-new PC when the fact remains that, just a few months later, it'll go down a few notches in terms of rank? > Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted January 9, 2011 Played and completed Mafia II. Pretty neat game, the retro 40s 50s music tracks really got into me for quite a while. Just started on that game. It's pretty awesome. When I saw it on Steam for €10, I knew I had to get it Share this post Link to post
rSquar3d 0 Posted January 9, 2011 Playing Stepmania v.3.9 on my BlueShark pad. Pretty tough moving your feet in a groove while wearing headphones. LOL. Share this post Link to post

Luk3us 63 Posted January 10, 2011 Not DOTA I trust? I'm not playing anything at the moment, its rather unsettling actually, no games I like come out till like March and I've played every other game I have a mild interest in. So now I have nothing to play till March!! Share this post Link to post
Guest Stevie_K Posted January 10, 2011 Well you've been spending 2 hours playing StarCraft2 *looking at your sig* Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted January 11, 2011 Oh that was days ago. I tried out some of those new cheats they released for SCII. The last campagin mission is epic if it just keeps going. Share this post Link to post
Plok 323 Posted January 11, 2011 Not DOTA I trust? No, of course not. I'm not one of those infidels who want to make an RPG out of an RTS. I'm combining RoC and TFT. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted January 12, 2011 I haven't played much. Last thing I really played was some Ocarina of Time. Share this post Link to post
rSquar3d 0 Posted January 13, 2011 @Plotkie, Blizzard did intend to make an RPG-ish RTS with Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. I mean, notice the huge changes in dynamics with heroes. DotA simplified it even more; it was still kind of like an RTS, but the RPG element was highlighted even more. Btw, still playing Stepmania. I hate not getting full combos. The only RPG elements I see in The Frozen Throne are those in the Bonus Campaign featuring Rexxar. All else is more or less the same as it was in Reign of Chaos, AFAIK. Share this post Link to post
rSquar3d 0 Posted January 14, 2011 Nope. Wait, I'll look up the PC Gamer article that was about TFT. Not review, but preview. How Blizzard envisioned TFT. As far as I remember, the developers made it clear that they placed a greater emphasis on the heroes. Don't forget the addition of race-specific buildable shops (and a lot of those items are only usable by heroes, and yet also make a huge difference in combat). And the addition of the tavern. Plus, rebalances were significant as well. No hero in RoC was capable of being an effective one-man army, yet in TFT, the Crypt Lord filled that role.; just one of those badasses can make huge trouble. There is greater emphasis on hero usage, and it's harder (but in no case impossible) to rape heroes with masses of non-hero uses due to the balances and the excellent new items. The greatest RPG-ish portions were the campaigns. Every reviewer, from IGN to PC Gamer US, noted the RPG-ish elements. And that's not just in the Rexxar campaign; it was all in the campaigns, were hero usage was emphasized. Indeed, in some missions (a considerable number, to say the least), other units played very much diminished roles; heroes took the forefront. Share this post Link to post

I have a PC games magazine from 2000 (which is now defunct) with screenshots how Reign of Chaos was supposed to look like. THAT was an RPG/RTS hybrid. They probably changed the concept to avoid losing the RTS roots. Nonetheless, WCIII rocks Share this post Link to post
rSquar3d 0 Posted January 15, 2011 Can't find the article online. As far as I remember, though, the cover story was GTA: Vice City. Anyways... Currently playing Prototype. > Share this post Link to post

Nyerguds 100 Posted January 17, 2011 PC version doesn't have all of that achievement crap I'm at 650 ft at the moment. I heard some versions don't have the Zen Garden... how on earth are you supposed to get that tree growing without it? Share this post Link to post
