More GDI Subfactions Details & New Screen Shots

GameSpot have posted a new article the lifts the lid on more information about the GDI Subfactions in Kane's Wrath, some of these new details contradicts the details from the Games for Windows magazine, so I'll go with GameSpot as having the most accurate summary here. Check out a small sample below.

 

The end of the Second Tiberium War saw the Brotherhood of Nod seemingly implode. With victory at hand, the GDI began to turn to peacetime tasks, the most pressing of which was battling the Tiberium contamination on the planet.

 

The Steel Talons is the name given to an experimental technology battalion formed in the wake of the Second Tiberium War. Founded by General Joshua "Mitch" Mitchell, the Steel Talons specialize in unconventional operations. The unit is designated an experimental one because it's something of a test bed for the latest and greatest military technologies. It is also designated as such because of Mitchell's demand that some of the peace dividend realized with the end of the war be directed toward maintaining the GDI's technological edge. After all, Mitchell argued, as long as Tiberium contamination remained on the planet, large amounts of the population would remain dispirited and provide ready recruits for any successor to Nod.

These are the new screen shots, from the Xbox 360 version of Kane's Wrath. Take a close look at what the Harvesters are armed with the the fourth screen shot.

Hmm... the gamespot article does not confirm titans and wolverines are playable units. In fact it tends to be the opposite - talking about futuristic/experimental technology. The gamespot descriptions make more sense that way, and it doesn't make sense to bring the old units back as a playable unit in current operations - ie skirmish/multiplayer.

 

I'm guessing that means the steel talons get the mobile sonic tank, rail gun upgrades etc but not the archaic TibSun era units.

 

Has this already been answered/confirmed elsewhere?

Has apoc confirmed the playable titan/wolverine units?

Nothing has been confirmed but if they make up the bulk of the Steel Talons subfaction they would have be playable.

 

The next C&C newsletter will feature a first look at the Wolverine and Titan. Hopefully a couple of in game screen shots to go with it.

Well we'll just have to wait until the information is confirmed... but I suspect the units will only be available to SP, until someone mods them out, and the factions will only have current/futuristic units.

He hints that two tibsun units are returning in KW... but that still could just be only in SP. Still he mentioned it would probably be confirmed in the Nov letter like Sonic mentioned... so I'll just wait until we hear more on the subject.

 

I'm just pointing out that Gamespot doesn't confirm them as playable units in the steel talon sub-faction. But whether that's incomplete information or not remains to be seen.

Of course, EA has a tendency to try and appease the so called C&C community, with some good and some not so good results.

 

I'm still amazed they didn't add in walls in one of the patches. lol.. But they did stick it into the expansion, so I suppose they did in the end collapse under the pressure.

Unconfirmed, but seems likely, considering all the other information already released.

He did confirm the units at the EA boards, after news got posted BEFORE he spilled the beans with his blog :lol: :

 

"I fought hard to bring back some of the Tiberian Sun units for you guys after your threads and hearing your opinions.

 

We felt the Titan and the Wolverine were a good fit.

 

Bringing these units back is absolutely a result of the community feedback.

 

Yes, this is in large part a result of your thread and others. I wasn't kidding when I said i'd push hard for this =)

 

The dev team agreed after my case.

 

You will get a first glimpse at these units in the November newsletter ) Hope you are quite pleased.

I'm not skeptical of their inclusion... I'm just saying I haven't seen a confirmation that they are in the Steel Talon sub-faction.

 

They might just be a SP unit only... (until sometime's mods them in).
