Command & Conquer Generals 2 is the Next C&C Game

Recommended Posts

Three factions - of which 2 are now known (EU and GLA - see pictures underneath). What do you think will be the next faction? China? Russia? Something else?

Oh dear god yes. After C&C4, there is only room for improvement. This looks pretty good so far.

Personally I think some kind of American-Asian alliance would be interesting to say the least...even if that's completely off the wall! :P

What do y'all think about the tidbit from IGN's interview about it being PC only?

I can't imagine them not including Americans, and I also can't imagine them keeping a simple USA faction secret, so an off the wall American alliance would not surprise me.

I am a PC gamer, so I don't mind. However, cross-platforms don't bother me either.

I like that GLA logo, so simple, yet so effective. Gives you the impression they just sent out one of the grunts and said go spray paint our symbol on these vehicles ;)

Why 3 factions? I know Generals/Zero Hour had 3, Who wrote the RTS rule book and said there has to be 3? Just 2 factions would be perfectly acceptable.

We have known this game would be PC only for a long time. As far back as the original interviews with Jon Van Caneghem when first arrived at EA. Doesn't bother me either. This game is all about C&C get back its roots. And one of those is the PC.

I think they're just starting with 3 factions, then post release they'll add more factions through DLC

I like three factions. I really don't think any game has had too many factions for my liking yet. If each faction is unique enough, the more the better in my opinion.

Woohoo. 2013 release date. Good. GREAT. I get to be all excited for a full year? Fantastic.

Seriously, why the hell would they announce it this far in advance? This gives us a year to speculate and tear the game apart in every way, and because of that, a million fans will get angry when it comes out, if it isn't exactly what they'd been building their expectations towards.

The fans that were typically always sore were the dedicated RA and Tiberian fans (I'm in that group :D) so... eh. Gens fan typically loved Gens (I'm in that group too!) and I'm sure we all remember the back and forth between the fans of the different universes. The people that will knock this will simply be the ones still sore it isn't RA or Tiberium, which they can politely **** off.

If you want a competitive RTS, you need 3 distinct factions. Besides, what's wrong with 3 differently played but balanced factions? Generals and ZH did it so well. I honestly think ZH was one of the most well made competitive RTS's out there, it's just a damn shame EA didn't support it longer.

A wacky American alliance will be weird, mainly because they're leaving out Russia and China too. Are they going to be involved? Going to have to have some nice story telling for that one!

The fact that the term 'expansion pack' has left this world saddens me :(

Wow, away for a few days and I'm missing the biggest newsupdate in many months.

I'm positive with the news. Interested in seeing how this progresses.

I assumed that Victory Games/EALA does the main production of C&C (with the RTS gameplay) while Bioware does the cinematics, possibly HD videos, the multiplayer features and the rest.

actually the GLA symbol is the letter A for the Greek word Anarchy! (at least that what it looks to be and makes sence)

lots of "underground" groups use that in real life. :P

Heh Saracen would back that up... and would have pointed it out earlier.

Not exactly right there. They are called BioWare Victory now.

Developer - BioWare Victory

Publisher - EA

Everything is nice and great, but EU tanks have exposed trucks?! It seems that C&C3 predator syndrome (of exposed trucks) continues to spread.

lol who cares about that now, what i saw was how amazing the physics and the particles systems and the model detail of this "exposed" tank was and i got a SOCK from a CnC game after a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time :)

Can I ask what the **** you're talking about?

He probably means the tanks have exposed treads. Never knew it was an issue with C&C3, don't expect it to be one with Generals 2 either.

Well, i kinda miss the old low-polygon games, but this looks okay i guess :)

hmmmm really? you prefair going blind with this quility of Graphics we had back then?

nostalgic is one think, but those polygons were really bad even back then!

i remember when i installed the Win95 Super VGA version! omg that was day vs night even for those times.

Good graphics are great, but they don't make the game. I can easily go back to Tiberian Dawn from time to time and play a mission or two. Honestly, what I like least about that ancient relic is not the graphics, but the building adjacency and one-at-a-time build queue.

At least the first picture resembles a game that acknowledges that it's a game through it's visuals, while the second tries to look like reality, and looks gray and boring in my opinion..

Sometimes a game looks best trying to look like a game. Tiberian Dawn and the other isometric C&C games does this excellently (whether that was the original intention or not).

i compared graphics, not games! so lets stay on that.

That's pointless.

(CnC had no polygons, and the picture you posted is from the DOS version not Win95.)

"Back then", the graphics were top notch and quite realistic (like Pong was real tennis). Whatever. Comparing 15 year old graphics to something that will be released in 2013 can't prove much.
