F15pilotX 4 Posted December 11, 2011 (edited) Now THIS is what I was hoping for. Ironically, the "non-C&C" games are the only ones of the franchise I still play aside from RenX...can't wait to see what they do with this. Bout time for a new engine, too. The whole no-modding thing sucks though. Edited December 11, 2011 by F15pilotX Share this post Link to post
Publix666 0 Posted December 11, 2011 Meh maybe a good place to reboot the franchise, but definitely not my favorite C&C. Either way, keeping a eye on it. But the fact that it will be Origin exclusive i probably wont touch it. I love how completely ignorant gamers are. Since Bioware was slapped all over it and everyone thinks Bioware is developing it. Tired of telling people i know Bioware isnt, VG is, VG is just under the Bioware name. Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted December 11, 2011 I hope they will produce hard copies (DVD packages). I know about the environmental friendly thing and the existence of online purchasing such as Steam and EA's iteration called Origin, but I rather buy a dvd package, its just a preference. noxbox 1 Posted December 11, 2011 Damn. I hope they change their mind on that. Maybe its the reason for the 2013 date, trying to get full tools to the modding community. Share this post Link to post
Troopzor 5 Posted December 11, 2011 Well they said they would like to make modding tools, I just don't think they had the budget, or time, to do that. Here's hopeing that since we have to wait until 2013 that they have plenty of time to add in modding tools with an awesome game Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted December 11, 2011 This was the obvious next move. Well... good... I'm pleased. Even the 2013 release is good news. Share this post Link to post
Troopzor 5 Posted December 11, 2011 Some awesome news btw, on sam bass's facebook he said, "Nice to see that almost every trailer at the VGA's was rendered in-engine, ours included." GAH! Share this post Link to post
Guest Rabbit Posted December 11, 2011 Woohoo. 2013 release date. Good. GREAT. I get to be all excited for a full year? Fantastic. Seriously, why the hell would they announce it this far in advance? This gives us a year to speculate and tear the game apart in every way, and because of that, a million fans will get angry when it comes out, if it isn't exactly what they'd been building their expectations towards. Can I see the link? Sam Bass does have a particular style I've seen in his works in the recent C&C titles. Unfortunately I'm not a big fan of his works, no offense, its just personal preference. TheBlackOut 6 Posted December 11, 2011 Maybe its the reason for the 2013 date, trying to get full tools to the modding community. I doubt that. Most likely them not wanting to screw up C&C like they have before, the fact it's an entirely new engine and they're developing for an RTS platform instead of an FPS, and they have a whole new studio doing the work. I'm not saying you are wrong, I just find it very unlikely. I would love to be proved wrong as I'm sure the modding community would too. Share this post Link to post

Malevolence 6 Posted December 11, 2011 (edited) It's pretty interesting to see the versatility of the Frostbite 2 engine. It can work for FPS brilliantly (Battlefield 3), it can work for Racing brilliantly (Need For Speed: The RUN), and now apparently it can work for RTS genre too. We'll see how powerful it can work for this game. I've played BF3 and NFSTR, and it's all up to the development team, I noticed the NFS human character models seem designed more inferior as compared to BF3, as they put more focus on the car models. So for C&C G2, I probably won't have too high of an expectation for the human character models to be as superior designed as seen in BF3. Fiesta 0 Posted December 11, 2011 So where is Victory games? I saw the Bioware logo in the trailer but not them? Kotaku's article says Victory Games is the production studio, so I have no idea why they weren't mentioned in the trailer. Share this post Link to post

Plok 319 Posted December 11, 2011 Oh great, to play this, I'll need to say goodbye to WinXP and my current configuration. **** today's gaming standards. They must not fail with this one. I seriously hope they won't do just a stereotypical reboot like today's movie and game studios like to do. Also, the Victory Games logo disappeared from the official C&C website. Now there's BioWare at the bottom. Share this post Link to post
Johnnyxp64 20 Posted December 11, 2011 (edited) http://www.gamespot....conquer-6347424 an other interview, they seem to got the message GS: Fans are still smarting over Command & Conquer 4 and its perceived missteps. What would you say to anyone concerned that Generals 2 might stray too far from what made its predecessor so good? Jon Van Caneghem: Generals 2 is a return to the roots of core C&C gameplay, balancing fast-paced action with strategic decision-making. The best C&C games are known for being accessible but also challenging to master and we are embracing that at the heart of the game design. Most importantly, we’ve heard the fans and we’re bringing back the elements of C&C they love--bases, resources, and giant armies. Edited December 11, 2011 by Sonic Share this post Link to post

ApornasPlanet 9 Posted December 11, 2011 Bah! Why didn't they reboot the Tiberian saga instead? Tiberian Dawn is as near future as generals using modern day technology and such. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 292 Posted December 11, 2011 ApornasPlanet I'm sure the Tiberium and even the Red Alert universe will be revisited again. But for me personally seeing the Generals name back on the news is great. I wasn't the biggest Generals fan either. Mostly due to how god damn boring the game was from a single player perspective. But I have high hope for Generals 2, a new team, new engine, a long development time (that the is the best part). Watch the community explode to life again. Watch all the fools who gave up, closed down sites come flooding back. And be prepared for the "hardcore horde" to return and tell everyone how this game should be made. I'm simply going to sit back and let EA/Victory/BioWare do their jobs Command & Conquer is back bitches.... deal with it! Share this post Link to post
Plok 319 Posted December 11, 2011 Bah! Why didn't they reboot the Tiberian saga instead? Tiberian Dawn is as near future as generals using modern day technology and such. Maybe it's best that they give Tiberium and RA a break for a while. All they could do was make a sequel to Generals or make a new universe. EA doesn't have much imagination, so they chose the former. Also, Sonic, why did you remove my magnified images from the first post lightboxes? Share this post Link to post

This gives us a year to speculate and tear the game apart in every way, and because of that, a million fans will get angry when it comes out, if it isn't exactly what they'd been building their expectations towards. Well BioShock Infinite was the same way, announced a few years ago just so fans know they are indeed making another game and not rushing it, which with me being a fan of the series am happy to hear. That said, I'm happy they aren't rushing this game either for once since even I hated how they would announce a new C&C game and have a release date set in stone already. One reason why I love Blizzard Entertainment's release policy of announcing stuff and just saying it's coming soon. I hope this is as fun as Zero Hour - I know that's an expansion but it made Generals even more fun and even though single player wasn't that fun, aside from the Skirmish, I really hope they fix that this time round.
