  1. I've made some minor revisions and changes to the main site logo as well as the banner at the top of the forums. The changes are very subtle, but I feel they make the text look a bit sharper and jump out a bit more than the previous design. You will notice the green cursor has been dropped. If you don't see the new images hit Ctrl+F5 to reload the page and the newer images will appear. A short story as to why the green cursor image has been removed. I was getting bored with it. CnCNet use something similar. I did test variations of making silhouette version of the Mammoth Mk2 image to use in its place but it became unrecognisable when it reduced in size to fit the designs on the main site and forums. So I felt it better to just improve ever so slightly of what already was in place. I'll also be updating the Facebook, Twitter, Favicons soon as well.
  2. We have some Red Alert: A Path Beyond news from the team at W3D Hub. It would appear there is unity in the W3D Renegade modding community after all. It has been announced that the next and best release of Red Alert: A Path Beyond will be available via W3D Hub's launcher. With W3D Hub now officially supporting Red Alert: A Path Beyond you will be able to download and install/patch the game in the future, as well as join official game servers hosting it.
  3. Its a new year and new start for Renegade X with the 5.1 patch being made available for download. This new patch features many new changes, fixes and additions. There is also improvements to some of the existing maps as well. The update can be downloaded via the Renegade X Launcher right now. More information about this patch, and links to a manual download, follow this link.
  4. Version 0.A of the Ares DLL has been released. This is a special DLL file that is aimed at the modding community, it adds new features to Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge. Ares v0.A, the first new version of Ares in about a year, adds new features and it includes bug fixes. It also improves performance of older features. They are summarised below. Audio improvements like support for multiple bag files and support for loose wave files of arbitrary type Solid Buildings have been reworked to support invisible projectiles and solidity levels Firestorm has gotten customizable animations and many more improvements Transports can come from the factory with pre-built passengers, can only accept specific passengers, or be disallowed to eject their passengers manually Custom Missiles can use weapons instead of damage and warhead Saboteurs are sneaky one-time building demolition troopers Units can be made to hold fire if not in area-guard mode or to not try to crush enemies Visit the Ares official site, where you will find the download of this new version and more information.
  5. Thanks to XfactorGaming on YouTube for uploading this. It looks like a cool Red Alert 3 Easter Egg has been discovered in Battlefield 4. Watch the video above to see it. I guess there are people within EA who still care about Command & Conquer after all.
  6. Its the final Throwback Thursday for 2015. And to end it for the year we are looking back another C&C game we never got. The cancelled C&C Renegade 2. Westwood never really got out the design and concept stage with this one, but the early work they did was interesting. It would have been based in the Red Alert 2 time line and bridge the gap between the fall of the Soviets and the rise of Nod. The plan was to use an upgraded version of the W3D engine from C&C Renegade. Unfortunately we have to file this game with the long list of other cancelled and failed Command & Conquer games that have accumulated over the years. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  7. Completely un-install the drivers for the device, remove the device from Device Manager if need be. Reboot Windows and let it install its own driver.
  8. Inspired the recent Mad Max: Fury Road movie, MadHQ's Graveyard have created and released a collection of voxels based on the vehicles seen in the movie. Modders can download and use them in their own mods. While you're there, you can also check out the new Civilian Vehicles, Farm Vehicles and Monster Truck voxel packs that have also been released. Visit MadHQ's Graveyard for the download.
  9. There has been some fantastic results for some of the popular Command & Conquer mods in the 2015 Mod of the Year Awards. In the Players Choice category, Rise of the Reds for Zero Hour got second place, and Mental Omega for Yuri's Revenge came in third place. There was an honourable mention for Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars mod, Tiberium Essence. Meanwhile, in the Editors Choice category. More success for Mental Omega for Yuri's Revenge by achieving third place. And Generals Evolution for Red Alert 3 earned an honourable mention. Congratulations to all of these Command & Conquer mods for some well deserved recognition.
  10. To finish off the year, a new dev blog for the month of December has been posted by Bluehell Productions. This latest blog covers many new things such as a new look side bar and Purchase Terminal icons, previews of the Pipeline and Keep Off the Grass maps, and some insight into performance improvements. Follow this link to read the new blog.
  11. Its also a different crop of the Mammoth Mk2 background. I wanted more of the lightening to be featured.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

I will also watch it again on Blue-Ray when it releases. But I feel big movies like this are meant to be seen on the big screen. Your missing out on a real movie goer experience by not seeing it in theatres. Judging by that comment you have read all the plot spoilers and ruined the movie for yourself. The movie is great, I don't see why people have so many problems with it. Oh wait yes I do know why.... just another over critical, nothing is good enough any more fan boy.
  13. Once again Christmas has arrived for another year. So its time for the traditional Christmas eve update here on CNCNZ.com. This is kind of random.
  16. After being down for the past 3 days, CNCNZ.com is back online. And for the first time since the very early origins of our history, CNCNZ.com has returned home. And by that I mean our site is now located back on New Zealand soil. We are now based on a server that is situated in Auckland, New Zealand. We made this move after suffering from speed and loading issues on our previous hosting. After much thought I simply felt we needed a change for the benefit of CNCNZ.com moving forward. We had a long and successful association with Freedom Studios (originally) and then Revora for many years and I wish to publicly thank them for everything they did. We now move on to a new chapter in our history. Our new "paid" hosting is with MyHost New Zealand, who have been nothing short of fantastic so far. So if you need some reliable web hosting at prices that won't break the bank talk to them. Everything has survived the server move. No data has been lost. Our forums are back online of course. I will still be checking to see if anything around the site is broken. If you spot something not working please let us know.
  17. It's a Christmas edition of Throwback Thursday this week. But it doesn't really have anything to do with the festive season though. What we are looking back at is the arrival the Scrin in the Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars from 2007. Many fans agree that the much hyped debut of the Scrin was somewhat underwhelming. But their early invasion force did feature some unique and powerful units such as the Annihilator Tripod, Planetary Assault Carrier and the Devourer Tank, just to name a few. The Scrin campaign, while short, ends with a tease that more is to come, the game hints towards a full Scrin invasion arriving on Earth. Unfortunately we never got to see any of that. Thanks to all the screw ups within EA, the Scrin never got used when the Tiberium saga ended with Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight.
  18. I have no games on my phone. Just something I don't get into. I'd rather use the PS4 or Xbox One. Smartphones are designed for lazy people
  19. Recently decided it was time to move on from the good old iPhone 5 that I've had since October 2013. After much thought I decided to replace it with a new Samsung Galaxy S6 (Black Sapphire/32GB) rather than an iPhone 6s. Having never used an Android device before its a bit strange finding my way around. Next job is to see what I can sell the iPhone 5 for. Has anyone one else made a recent smartphone upgrade?
  20. If it's Command & Conquer related post them in the appropriate forums. So yes perfectly fine to post your lets play videos.

  23. About a week ago, version 1.4 of the C&C Tiberian Dawn Redux mod for Zero Hour was made available. Remember the original Command & Conquer? Remember all the units, characters and themes from the original C&C game? Remember the gritty feeling of RTS warfare? Well, that classic game from the early 90's that spawned over a dozen titles and revolutionized the RTS gaming world has been reincarnated in the advanced 3D world of Zero Hour. GDI and Nod are back along with two sub-factions and nearly two dozen recreated campaign missions! Version 1.4 includes the following.... General Gameplay Updates: Visual optimization to the in-game graphics Several vehicle and structure models reworked & re-textured Skirmish AI rebuilt and optimized for a better gameplay experience Skirmish AI utilizes more units and buildings Maps and single-player missions debugged/re-scripted Tiberium spawning optimized to avoid game lag/crashes Balance fixes to several units and buildings Harvester and MCV movement speed slightly increased Base Defense Armour/HP increased Optimized water and terrain textures APC's and Transport Helicopters can now heal infantry Engineers can disable & repair vehicles Harvesters now show empty/full states when harvesting tiberium FPS Controller added to the options menu You can also check out the great game play the video above that shows off a recreation of the first GDI mission from the original Command & Conquer. Once you're done watching the video, follow this link for the download.
  24. Yuri has invaded Hollywood by using his mind control technology. He has begun to use the media to spread his subliminal propaganda. This is of course a well made promotional video for the Mental Omega mod for Yuri's Revenge. Mental Omega made it into the Top 100 for the 2015 Mod of Year Awards on Mod DB. It deserves your vote.
