Haven't put the tree up yet, probably not until this weekend I guess. I haven't even done any shopping.

I was going to take a picture and put it up... but then a kitten with the same name as yours truly decided to climb it and send it toppling over. This is not the 1st time, neither is it the tenth time, I've lost count.

 

So, to save the effort of having to fix the large tree, there is another. I have a 3ft Fibre optic tree that I'll post once I've sprayed it with enough Pet Behaviour stuff to teach the little mite that climbing Christmas trees is a bad idea.

here is my tree this year

Small tree is small.

 

My tree is fake and about 70 years old. My great grandmother gave it to my mother and amazingly nothing's broken yet.

 

It has a small, heavy, metal base and the wooden trunk is about 4 inches in diameter and 7 feet tall. The wire branches go into holes all along the trunk. Best part is that there are no pine needles everywhere. And it saves moneyz.

Really? Never knew that. I was once told that it was bad luck not to leave it up for a week after Christmas but i had no idea was customary to put it up that early

Ours is up now, as it gets left up all year. We just move it to another place in the house and take the Christmas decorations off it during the year.

We have a tradition of putting it up on the first weekend of December, so in a few days i'll have a pic of my own

 

On a slightly different note, does anybody still use *authentic* christmas trees?

We still use pine trees. Every year and find a tree we like, cut it down, take it home (covering everything in pine needles as we go) put it in a metal stand with some water and asprin.

We had a real tree last year, looked cool, but the pine needles were a real bitch. Might just stick with a fake one this year.

Why would you want a real tree?

 

1) It smells weird.

2) Its a bitch to maintain

3) You have to buy a new one each year.

4) You have to clean out your car when you pick it up.

5) You have to clean out your car when you dump it.

6) You have to dump it.

7) They are stupidly expensive for a one time deal.

8) Local wildlife keep trying to make nests in your tree.

Its something that I have grown up with

I don't pay for it

I like the smell

We put ours on the roof of our car

We don't maintain it, just put it in enough water to last it

We put it up close to a door so tiny mess

We just chuck it out side and burn it

The only local wildlife is a 2 cats (who don't climb it) ,a blind dog (that never notices its there or walks into it) and 200 cows which don't get inside easily

and look at the lights in the bottom righton the table there are 300 of them.i get the fun job of stapling them up around the deck tonight

...XD wow that was lame. yaaaah we haven't put up the tree yet this year. normally we put it up in like, mid november and it stays there until about feb... x3; it used to be me getting all excited over it. but i've got lazier and lazier over the past years. we have this lil plastic and metal thing... had it as long as i can remember, you basically assemble the thing literally. there's a pile of metal parts that form a tripod base and the main body is broken up into three sections (bottom, middle and top) each with a bar, fold out branches and fold out bristle sections xD

 

it's pretty clever but a fair amount of hastle. especially since mom insists on making everything perfectly spread out to cover gaps. which of course brings out my OCD side and i end up going around the tree making sure every branch end of three splits are perfectly divided and match the rest of the tree. basically there are 3 or 4 branches on each level up. each little "section" has 6 or 8 branches in a ring around. so like 4 branches then 4 above in the gaps XD and it works it's way up the tree like that. you have to pull each branch out, clip it in place then spread out all the little bars on each branch @.@

 

then we have the many many accessories. probably the reason i haven't been so bothered lately is because it's a lot of time and effort to put it up and take it down, and i don't even see it. i'm in my room all the time XD though that said i think i took a photo of it last year or something. could have sworn i posted it on here... might be wrong. seems like only yesterday...

 

also lul i just noticed the tunnel XD;;
